SCBH was induced by immunizing guinea pigs with a protein antigen and challenging 1 week later with a large intraperitoneal dose of the same antigen. Animals developed a delayed-onset, erythematous skin rash and dermal infiltration by basophils and eosinophils. The uveal tracts of these animals were infiltrated by eosinophils, as were several other internal organs. The eye is affected in SCBH, and as in other forms of ocular cell-mediated hypersensitivity, the eosinophil is a prominent cellular component of these reactions.

A case of hypersensitivity pneumonitis due to doves is reported and compared with other cases due to dove or pigeon antigens reported in children. The diagnosis is substantiated by the presence of precipitating antibody to dove and pigeon serum, clinical improvement after contact with the doves was broken, and a positive response to inhalation challenge with pigeon serum. The insidious nature of this disease is emphasized as well as the importance of having detailed environmental information in children with unexplained respiratory disease.

Soluble melanoma antigens were prepared by 3M KCl extraction. These antigens were tested by delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions (DCHR) in 52 patients. Maximum reactivity was noted at 24 hours. DCHR was greater than or equal to 10 mm. of induration in 20 of 34 melanoma patients whereas only three reacted to an autologous muscle extract. Five of 18 patients with other tumors reacted to this antigen. The availability of soluble tumor antigens now permits further purification, chemical characterization, and clinical evaluation of these antigens.

Skin testing represents a direct method of assessing immune responses in vivo. Twenty-six patients with metastatic cancer of the lung, kidney, or melanoma were treated with adoptive transfers of autologous tumor-infiltrating or blood lymphocytes and continuous infusions of interleukin-2 (IL-2). Intravascular large B-cell lymphoma (IVLBCL) is a rare and often fatal malignancy that presents with non-specific pulmonary symptoms and abnormal imaging findings. We report a unique case of IVLBCL in a 73-year-old man who initially presented with fever and bilateral ground-glass opacities on computed tomography that mimicked hypersensitivity pneumonitis.
