QUESTIONS: Are the guidelines for serological testing in pregnancy followed, and are the results on hand on admission to the labour ward?
METHODS: From 1.1.2007 to 31.12.2007, all patients' records were checked for serological analyses on admission to the labour ward. The serologies tabulated included tests for rubella, toxoplasmosis, hepatitis B, syphilis, HIV, varicella, cytomegalovirus infection (CMV) and parvovirus B19.

BACKGROUND: To decrease the gulf between academic and community perspectives, there has been an increased call among stakeholder groups to collaborate in solving complex urban health problems. A mucinous adenocarcinoma of the thymus is rare, and there is presently limited information on the clinical aspects of this uncommon type of tumor. Only six cases have been reported in the literature. A 49-year-old Japanese male presented with an anterior mediastinal mass, and underwent a tumor resection. Histologically the tumor consisted of a mucinous adenocarcinoma with pleural dissemination. Postoperative radiotherapy and chemotherapy were performed. The patient is still alive with pleural dissemination 11 months after surgery.

Professional organizations' syphilis screening guidelines are updated to align with evidence and need. Guideline awareness, current guideline dissemination sources, and future preferred sources were investigated among prenatal providers (n = 225).
