Guinea pigs immunized with mycelium from Trichophyton mentagrophytes in Freund's complete adjuvant were tested intradermally with the following trichophytin preparations: TrI extracted by ethylene glycol, TrII extracted by phenol and TrII, a commercially obtained preparation fromSächsisches Serumverk KG. In our experience, TrI was found to be superior to the other preparations. It showed signifiicant delayed skin reactions in all sensitized animals and none in the controls. Lymphocyte stimulation test with this preparation (TrI) gave positive results.

One hundred and forty four patients, with dermal reactions to different drugs, were chosen from our clinic. The selection criteria was based on a detailed and careful anamnesis in order to be certain of the specific drug responsible for the reaction. We tried to establish a drug-specific reaction pattern for each of the drugs studied. BACKGROUND: Many patients report questionable drug hypersensitivity reactions (DHR) to betalactam antibiotics. A workup is required for objectivation. Direct drug provocation tests (DPTs) omitting a prior allergy workup are increasingly recommended as the primary diagnostic approach. A case history is presented of a man who developed angioedema of his head and neck during anaesthesia for his 11th cystoscopy within four years. Thiopentone was always used to induce his general anaesthesia. An intradermal skin test with 1 : 100 dilution of 2-5 per cent thiopentone was positive and subsequent anaesthesia without thiopentone was straightforward.

A study was conducted to determine whether an allergen that has been prepared from a mucoid strain of Brucella abortus triggers a serum antibody response that interferes with the interpretation of serologic tests results.
