A 51-year-old man presented with a 2-year history of painless lump in the left hemiscrotum. Scrotal examination demonstrated a 3-cm, firm-to-hard mass attached to the left spermatic cord. Scrotal ultrasound scan revealed a heterogeneous mass separate from the left testis and epididymis. An orchidectomy was recommended to the patient; however, he declined surgery and underwent excision biopsy of the lesion with preservation of the left testis. We report the case of an 8-year-old boy with a parotid mass diagnosed to be a leiomyosarcoma. Considering the unresectable extent of the mass, the patient was subjected to radiotherapy. The patient developed distant metastasis following the course of radiotherapy and was put on chemotherapy. The child was lost to further follow up. To our knowledge, this is the first reported case in the English-language literature of such an entity in the pediatric age group.

This report describes the first case of primary leiomyosarcoma of the submandibular salivary glands and emphasizes the role of immunohistochemical study for a correct diagnosis of this tumour. In line with results of international literature, we associated surgery with radiotherapy and 2 years postoperatively there was no sign of recurrence.

This paper describes the clinical and pathological features, diagnosis and management of primary intraoral leiomyosarcomas in the oral cavity of four dogs; they involved the gingivae of the rostral maxilla and mandible, the mucosa of the upper lip and the soft palate. Their features are compared with the those of leiomyosarcomas commonly encountered in the gastrointestinal tract of dogs. Two of the dogs responded well to surgical treatment; one died after its airways were obstructed by a large palatal tumour; and the fourth was lost to follow-up after its owners declined treatment.

A 56-year-old woman with leiomyosarcoma of the broad ligament discovered in the outpatient clinic in Marmara University Medical School is presented. Treatment consisted of total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy. After a one-year disease-free interval, the patient underwent a repeat laparotomy and recurrence of the previously excised malignant tumor was removed. The patient received external radiotherapy to the pelvis with linear accelerator.

A rare case of spontaneous regression of esophageal leiomyosarcoma is reported. A 63-year-old woman underwent esophagectomy and reconstruction at our hospital after diagnosis of leiomyosarcoma. Solitary tumors of the broad ligament are rare. The most frequent solid tumor of the broad ligament is leiomyoma. Leiomyosarcoma of the broad ligament (LBL) is an extremely rare malignant tumor. Soft tissue sarcomas of the oral cavity are uncommon malignancies; those of smooth-muscle origin are extremely rare. The world literature reveals about 80 leiomyomas and 26 cases of leiomyosarcoma. Only 4 of the cases with leiomyosarcoma occurred in the tongue. This report of leiomyosarcoma of the base and dorsum of the tongue adds 1 case which was primarily treated with irradiation and achieved an excellent response. A 1.5-year follow-up after radiation-therapy is included and a review of the literature is presented.
