Objectives: Syphilis is a resurging disease which can present itself in many ways, including lesions within the head and neck mucosa. Some of these lesions may clinically mimic oral malignancies. This literature review aims to better characterize the mucosal presentations of syphilis. Methods: PubMed, EMBASE, and clinicaltrials.gov were searched for full-text, English articles published from 1950 to 2022 that reported patients with head and neck mucosal manifestations of syphilis. A monkeypox outbreak has been reported in several countries since early May 2022. Human monkeypox (MPX) diagnosis is based on a clinical suspicion supported by typical skin and mucosal lesions, confirmed with molecular testing. We present the results of all MPX confirmed patients presenting to our department until July 15 of 2022, describing the characteristics of the lesions at diagnosis. Since May 2022, several nonendemic countries face a monkeypox outbreak, with clinic and epidemiological characteristics distinct from the classic ones. Primarily affecting the sexually active population, these cases present with mucocutaneous lesions mainly localized in perioral, genital, and anal areas. A retrospective study was conducted in a tertiary center in Lisbon, to characterize the population diagnosed with monkeypox infection with primarily mucosal involvement.

BACKGROUND: Lichen planus (LP) is a chronic inflammatory dermatosis that affects the skin and the mucous membranes. The literature on the dermoscopic aspects of mucosal LP is still scarce. This study aimed to describe the dermoscopic aspects of mucosal LP and to provide a comprehensive updated summary of the literature.
METHODS: This was a cross-sectional, multicenter study conducted in Charles Nicolle, La Rabta, and Habib Thameur hospitals from December 2019 to October 2020. We included patients with histologically confirmed mucosal LP for whom a dermoscopic examination was performed.

The work assessed the clinical utility of open quotients measured during laryngovideostroboscopy and electroglottography. Values of the parameters were analyzed according to clinical diagnosis. An algorithm based on direct and indirect mucosal wave measurement is presented, which allows for differentiation of voice disorders. The method developed for the objectification of glottal functions in various voice pathologies is characterized by high sensitivity and specificity.

OBJECTIVES: We aimed to characterise the microbial changes associated with histological stages of gastric tumourigenesis.
DESIGN: We performed 16S rRNA gene analysis of gastric mucosal samples from 81 cases including superficial gastritis (SG), atrophic gastritis (AG), intestinal metaplasia (IM) and gastric cancer (GC) from Xi'an, China, to determine mucosal microbiome dysbiosis across stages of GC.
