Ameloblastoma is a slow-growing benign neoplasm that has a strong tendency to local invasion and that can grow to be quite large without metastasizing. Rare examples of distant metastasis of an ameloblastoma in lungs or regional lymph nodes do exist. It has an aggressive and recurrent course and is rarely metastatic. Radiographically it shares common features with other lesions such as the giant cell tumor, aneurysmal bone cyst, and renal cell carcinoma metastasis; a definitive diagnosis can only be made with histopathology. Basal cell ameloblastoma is believed to be the rarest histologic subt

OBJECTIVE: To describe our experience with the nested variant of urothelial carcinoma (UC-NV) of the bladder, by characterization of the clinical picture and the prognostic implications of this rare form of bladder neoplasm.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Three cases of UC-NV of the bladder treated in our institutions were revised and data compared with previously published case-reports.
RESULTS: Three patients presented with advanced muscle-invasive UC-NV, of which two had lymph node metastasis at cystoprostatectomy. The histopathology in the latter two cases showed the same picture in the lymph no

We report the case of a patients with a metachronous cystic pancreatic metastasis from an undifferentiated large cell lung carcinoma two years after the primary tumor had been surgically removed. Clinically, he presented with epigastric pain, fever, weakness and anorexia. The patient was operated and a palliative cystogastrostomy was performed after an intraoperative biopsy had been informed as positive for carcinoma. Six months later the patient died. Pancreatic metastases from lung carcinoma are found in approximately 7-9% of patients deceased of this neoplasm. Clinical and radiological find

Basal cell carcinoma is a common cutaneous neoplasm that rarely metastasizes. We studied the clinical and pathologic features of 17 patients with metastatic basal cell carcinoma as recorded in the files of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology (AFIP). Sixteen of the patients were male, and as far as it could be determined, all were white. The most frequent site of metastasis was lung (9 cases), followed by bone (5), lymph nodes (4), liver (3), spleen (1), and adrenal gland (1). Thirteen of the patients had metastatic lesions involving only one organ system. Mean survival time after metastasi

Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is an uncommon neoplasm in dogs, typically presenting as a discrete mass with metastasis frequently identified at the time of diagnosis. Herein, we describe an unusual presentation of canine pancreatic adenocarcinoma, characterised by diffuse microscopic infiltration of the pancreas without gross abnormalities on advanced imaging or exploratory laparotomy. An 11-year-old male neutered Shetland Sheepdog presented with recurrent anorexia, lethargy, and haematuria. Diagnostic investigations revealed progressive anaemia, thrombocytopenia, pulmonary consolidations and ster

Primary splenic angiosarcoma is an extremely rare and aggressive vascular neoplasm associated with high rates of metastasis. A male patient in his 70s presented with thrombocytopenia. Physical examination and blood tests were non-revealing. A large splenic lesion was found on imaging, and splenectomy confirmed the diagnosis of splenic angiosarcoma. A PET scan and brain MRI showed no evidence of metastasis. The patient is now under surveillance with imaging. Primary splenic angiosarcoma presents a significant clinical challenge due to its aggressive nature and nonspecific symptoms, with outcome

PURPOSE: Conjunctival melanoma is a rare neoplasm with high rates of recurrence and metastasis. Traditional management includes surgical excision and cryotherapy, followed by adjuvant therapy as needed. Immune checkpoint inhibitors, including nivolumab, are a targeted treatment option with improved survival rates. However, various immune-related adverse effects have been reported with these drugs. While systemic granulomatous inflammation is a documented systemic side effect, it has rarely been reported in the conjunctiva and ocular adnexa.
OBSERVATION: A patient with a history of recurrent m

Syringoid eccrine carcinoma of nipple is an extremely rare neoplasm of adnexal origin with variable clinical appearance and diverse histologic findings. Syringoid eccrine carcinoma (SEC) is often a diagnostic dilemma due to its morphology and presentation. Usually, these malignancies arise as non-ulcerated nodules or plaques in the head & neck region including the trunk. They are locally aggressive and have an infiltrative growth pattern with a propensity for metastasis. SEC is characterized by syringoma-like tadpole morphology with ductular differentiation and predominant desmoplasia. Immunos

Cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) is a common skin cancer, typically affecting older White males in sun-exposed areas, and metastasis is rare. We present a unique case of a 46-year-old obese African-American woman with a recurrent, deep abscess in her left axilla. It was initially treated with several incision and drainage procedures and antibiotics. Despite multiple interventions, the abscess recurred with severe pain and drainage. Subsequent biopsies revealed a high-grade malignant neoplasm, later confirmed as poorly differentiated cSCC with primary metastases to the lungs and seconda

BACKGROUND: Myoepithelial tumors have been widely described as a rare form of salivary gland neoplasm, although currently soft-tissue phenotypes have also been identified. These are tumors composed entirely of myoepithelial cells that exhibit a dual epithelial and smooth muscle phenotype. The occurrence of myoepithelial tumors within the central nervous system is also extremely rare, with only a few cases reported. Treatment options include surgical resection, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, or a combination of these approaches.
CASE DESCRIPTION: The authors present a case of soft-tissue myoepith

Thymic lymphoepithelioma-like carcinoma (LELC) is a rare primary malignant neoplasm originating from the thymus. Thymic LELC diagnosis is often terminal when diagnosed, some patients have lost the opportunity for surgery. Platinum- and anthracycline-based systemic chemotherapy are the first-line treatment plan; however, there is no clear consensus on therapy when first-line treatment fails because of the lack of cases of advanced thymic LELC. Here was a rare case of advanced thymic LELC with bone marrow metastasis at relapse, which is reported in a patient who responded well to toripalimab com

INTRODUCTION: We present a case of urothelial carcinoma in a renal allograft successfully treated with pembrolizumab.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 39-year-old woman presented with nausea and anorexia 9 years after a renal transplantation. Positron emission tomography revealed a neoplasm of the renal pelvis of the allograft and multiple lymph nodes with peritoneal metastasis. A diagnosis of a non-muscle-invasive bladder tumor with peritoneal dissemination and jejunal metastasis of urothelial carcinoma was made. After five cycles of gemcitabine and carboplatin, the tumor progressed and pembrolizumab wa

BACKGROUND: Microcystic stromal tumor (MCST) of the ovary is an extremely rare subtype of sex cord-stromal neoplasm first described by Irving and Young in 2009. Tumors from all previously reported cases (fewer than 40 total) were benign, but one was a case of ovarian MCST that reoccurred.
CASE PRESENTATION: Herein, we present a unique single case of ovarian MCST with omental metastasis in a 47-year-old Chinese female along with its histologic and immunohistochemical profile and genetic alterations. The tumor exhibited the previously described classic microscopic features and immunoprofiles of

BACKGROUND/AIM: Some metastatic tumors that involve the fallopian tube show intraepithelial spread, mimicking primary tubal neoplasm and representing a potential diagnostic pitfall. In this study, we aimed to investigate the clinicopathological characteristics of tubal intraepithelial metastasis (IEM) from cervical carcinoma.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: We analyzed the clinical features, histological features, and immunophenotypes of IEMs in five patients with cervical carcinoma.
RESULTS: This study included usual-type (1/5), mucinous-type (1/5), and gastric-type (2/5) endocervical adenocarcinomas

BACKGROUND: Oncocytic carcinoma (OC) arising in the submandibular gland is an unusual malignant neoplasm, with <20 cases previously reported. The cancer is characterized by numerous morphologically abnormal mitochondria present in the cytoplasm and marked cellular pleomorphism. At its most severe, the tumor may invade into the surrounding tissues, including intravascular, lymphatic, or perineural invasion, and lead to regional nodal or distant metastasis.
METHODS: The current study describes a novel OC case in a 46-year-old male, the youngest case of the review. The patient presented with a 5

Malignant mesothelioma is an uncommon neoplasm of serosal surfaces, such as the pleura, the peritoneum, less frequently pericardium and tunica vaginalis. It usually spreads locally to the lungs and mediastinum. We describe a case of malignant mesothelioma with metastasis to the heart. The patient presented with syncope, chest pain and light-headedness. He was found to have wide complex ventricular tachycardia (Vtach). He was cardioverted and then noted to have multiple (more than 20) similar episodes during the hospital course. He was treated with multiple antiarrhythmic medications. A CT scan

Apocrine carcinoma is a rare malignant adnexal neoplasm. The differential diagnosis between apocrine carcinoma and cutaneous metastasis is often difficult. Here, we report a case of locally recurrent penile apocrine carcinoma initially diagnosed as metastatic adenocarcinoma of the colon. A 75-year-old man with a history of surgical resection due to sigmoid colon cancer and penile metastasis two years prior to this study presented with a nodule at the left penile base. He underwent a wide local resection of the penile mass under a suggested preoperative diagnosis of extra-mammary Paget's diseas

A 44-year-old man with total thyroidectomy for papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC) performed at the age of 38 years was referred for mediastinal metastases demonstrated on chest radiograph and high serum thyroglobulin (Tg 328 ng/ml). Computed tomography revealed mediastinal lymph node enlargement with left bronchial compression and reduction of bronchial diameter, as well as two metastases in the left lung. Bronchoscopic biopsy findings showed a poorly-differentiated PTC, while a whole body scan after 131-Iodine therapy demonstrated uptake in the right subclavicular region. External beam radioth

Although epithelial bronchial neoplasm is a cancer frequently observed in adult patients, it is rarely observed in patients who are children. The most frequent histologic subtype is well differentiated neuroendocrine tumor, or carcinoid. They have a variable biologic behavior, ranging from benign to malignant tumors capable of very late recurrence or metastasis. Liver and lung are frequent sites of carcinoid metastasis, and the central nervous system is exceptionally involved. We report the case of a child with a pulmonary carcinoid initially considered typical, who presented with relapse in t
