The atypical cellular blue nevus is an extremely rare nevomelanocytic lesion which lacks precise histologic characterization in the current literature. Given the potential for significant architectural and cytologic overlap with melanoma, further study, including molecular analysis, is needed. This is the first description of an atypical cellular blue nevus of the oral cavity.

Syringocystadenoma papilliferum is a rare benign adnexal tumor that frequently shows apocrine differentiation. It usually develops on the scalp and is associated with a nevus sebaceus in 40% of cases. Although the clinical presentation may differ, its histology is characteristic. Sun exposure, fair phototype, and a high common melanocytic nevus (MN) count have been identified as the most important risk factors for melanoma. MN are mainly acquired during childhood, and their relationship to sun exposure, sunburn, and light skin complexion is well documented. Mucinous eccrine nevus (MEN) is a rare variant of eccrine nevus, characterized by a proliferation of normal eccrine structure surrounded by mucin deposits. We report herein the eighth case of mucinous eccrine nevus in the literature, with abundant mucin deposits not only in the stroma surrounding the eccrine glands but also in the superficial dermis. We report organoid nevus with left oculo-orbital choristoma fixing the globe in hypotropia, precanthal skin tag, and upper eyelid coloboma and right limbal dermoid. Computed tomography revealed a dilated lateral ventricle and cerebral atrophy. No neurologic deficit existed. The coloboma was repaired, choristoma debulked, and precanthal tag excised.

A 42-year-old man had a large speckled lentiginous nevus on the left side of his trunk. The involved area was painful when touched and paresthetic. Moreover, the ipsilateral half of his body showed a pronounced hyperhidrosis. PURPOSE: To describe a patient treated with photodynamic therapy for subfoveal choroidal neovascularization secondary to choroidal nevus.
DESIGN: Interventional case report.
METHODS: A 61-year-old woman presented with subfoveal choroidal neovascularization secondary to choroidal nevus and best-corrected visual acuity of 20/50. The choroidal neovascularization was treated with two verteporfin photodynamic therapy sessions, separated by 3 months.

Ipsilateral breast hypoplasia is a rare abnormality in Becker's nevus. The pathogenesis of the breast hypoplasia is not understood, but an increased level of androgenic receptor in the affected area may play a role. We report a case of Becker's nevus with ipsilateral breast hypoplasia. Spironolactone, an anti-androgenic agent, was tried for treatment of the hypoplasia, and, one month later, breast enlargement was seen in only the hypoplastic breast with Becker's nevus. This finding supports the theory that breast hypoplasia in Becker's nevus is related to an increase in androgenic receptor.

The utility of two different epiluminescence microscopy rating protocols were tested prospectively and retrospectively on a group of 115 photographically documented naevi. Initially all naevi were classified histologically as dysplastic. While the first score table was set up only to identify dysplastic naevi, the second system lent itself to the differential diagnosis of malignant melanoma. Using this second scoring table 3 lesions were identified as melanomas directly and in 3 further melanomas the suspicion of dysplasia was confirmed. PURPOSE: To identify ophthalmologic manifestations of the blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome, a rare cutaneovisceral hemangiomatosis.
METHODS: The authors report two patients with a diagnosis of blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome with orbital hemangiomas.
RESULTS: In one patient, the orbital lesion presented with signs and symptoms similar to an orbital varix and in the other with lid ecchymosis from an eyelid lesion.

A 68-year-old woman developed three reddish nodules on a linear epidermal nevus on the right arm. The nodules and linear lesion were resected. The histology revealed the two larger nodules to be eccrine porocarcinoma and the other to be eccrine poroepithelioma. The linear lesion was actually epidermal nevus. To our knowledge, this is the first description of adnexal tumors developing on epidermal nevus.

This case resembles Ota's syndrome; however, atypical distribution of the facial nevus, the epidermal location of hyperpigmentation, and the combination of vascular and degenerative cerebral malformations indicate that this is a new hitherto unreported neurocutaneous vascular syndrome.

We report unilateral megalencephaly in a 14-year-old girl with linear sebaceous nevus syndrome. A review of the radiologic findings in this case and in previously reported cases suggests that the seizures and developmental delay in this neurocutaneous syndrome are related to the migration anomaly of unilateral megalencephaly.
