Changes of bacterial isolates from urine specimens of outpatients with urinary tract infections (UTI) from 1977 through 1984 were studied. Organisms which were isolated from patients with bacteriuria of over 10(3) bacteria per ml of urine regardless of grade of pyuria were studied. Clinico-pathological and parasitological studies have been performed on spontaneous and experimental coccidiosis in guinea pigs. Among 11,244 Hartley guinea pigs purchased from suppliers during 1968, 410 (3.6%) of the animals had diarrhea due to coccidiosis. The incidence rate was high in the spring and fall with a mortality rate of 14.4 per cent. A particularly high number of fatal cases were found in the spring. A subpopulation of human synovial cells develop a stellate morphology during in vitro culture. These cells, called stellate cells or dendritic cells, appear capable of collagenase production. A comparison with the biparietal and abdominal diameter as well as with the echogenicity of the placenta is made. Cefuroxime, a new synthetic cephalosporin, was administered to 10 pediatric patients (6 with respiratory tract infection, 2 with urinary tract infection, 1 with sepsis of E. coli and 1 with enterocolitis). The clinical result was good and excellent in all the 10 cases. No side effect was observed in any of them.
