Plummer-Vinson syndrome (PVS) is the triad of iron-deficiency anemia, esophageal webs and dysphagia. This article discusses the first reported case of PVS from Oman. A female patient in her 40s presented with a one-year history of dysphagia and odynophagia and a known background of untreated iron-deficiency anemia. Down syndrome (DS) is the most common chromosomal abnormality found in humans. In Oman, the birth prevalence of DS is 2.4 in 1000 (about 120 affected births per year). OBJECTIVES: To determine the frequency of different HLA-antigens in patients with plaque psoriasis in the Omani Arab population.
METHODS: Fifty four Omani patients clinically diagnosed with plaque psoriasis attending the dermatology outpatient clinic in Al-Nahdah Hospital (the tertiary dermatology centre in Oman) were selected for HLA studies.
