Solitary Bone Plasmacytoma of the Scapula: A Rare Localization With Remarkable Radiotherapy Outcome.

Solitary bone plasmacytoma (SBP) is a rare plasma cell neoplasm characterized by localized proliferation of monoclonal plasma cells in bone … onformal technique with careful target delineation. Treatment was well tolerated, with only grade I radiodermatitis reported. Follow-up imaging two months after therapy demonstrated significant lesion regression, partial re-ossification, and reduction of soft-tissue involvement. SBP of the scapula represents a rare clinical entity, and radiotherapy continues to b …

Complications and Risk Factors in Patients with Soft Tissue Sarcoma of the Extremities Treated with Radiotherapy.

INTRODUCTION: Soft tissue sarcomas of the extremities (ESTSs) pose significant challenges in treatment and management due to their diverse n … and lower extremity tumors being significant risk factors. Acute RT-related complications included radiodermatitis, with grade ≥ 2 occurring in 43.1% of patients, which was associated with superficial tumors. Three patients had an edema grade ≥ 2. Chronic complications included telangiectasias (21.7%) and fibrosis (38.7%), with higher rates associated with large …

GLIM Criteria-Defined Malnutrition Informs on Survival of Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma Patients Undergoing Radiotherapy.

Studies regarding malnutrition in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) using the Global Leadership Initiative in Malnutrition (GLIM) … IM criteria, low fat-free muscle index (FFMI) before radiotherapy was associated with mucositis and radiodermatitis (p < 0.05). Importantly, patients with malnutrition before radiotherapy had significantly poorer 2-year progression free survival (PFS) than the patients being well-nourished (62.1% vs. 88.9%, p = 0.015). From the multivariate Cox regression model, …

MASCC oncodermatology clinical practice statement: prevention of acute radiation dermatitis using barrier-forming topical agents.

PURPOSE: MASCC Clinical Practice Statements (CPS) are practice-oriented resources designed to support clinicians by addressing areas of clinical need where high-quality evidence is limited. They reflect expert consensus on current practices, treatment approaches, and modalities commonly used in oncology care. This CPS aims to provide practical guidance for the prevention of acute radiation dermatitis (ARD) using barrier-forming topical agents. METHODS: This CPS was developed based on a comprehensive review of the literature identified through MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane CENTRAL conducted up

Assessment Tools of Radiation Skin Injury in Head and Neck Cancer: A Narrative Review of Preclinical and Clinical Studies.

Radiation skin injury (RSI) is an unavoidable side effect of radiotherapy that delays the treatment process and affects patients' quality of life. However, RSI is easily overlooked in clinical practice with unified assessment methods. Although over 20 types of clinical scales have already been reported, they were never collated and systematically reorganized. In this review, we collected and categorized the RSI scales from the perspective of RSI-rated symptoms, patient self-feeling, the impact on quality of life, and psychological conditions, and summarize the common assessment modalities (bot

Evaluating the quality and reliability of radiation dermatitis related videos on Douyin and Bilibili: a cross-sectional analysis.

BACKGROUND: Radiation dermatitis (RD), a common adverse reaction to radiotherapy (RT), is widely discussed on video-sharing platforms. However, user-generated content about RD lacks systematic scientific validation. This study evaluates the reliability and quality of RD-related videos on two major social media platforms: Douyin and Bilibili. METHODS: We conducted a cross-sectional study on Douyin and Bilibili, using keywords including "radiation dermatitis ()," "radiotherapy-induced dermatitis ()," "radiation skin injury ()," and "radiation dermatitis care ()". A total of 190 eligible short v

Patient-reported experience with the use of Mepitel Film for prevention of acute radiation dermatitis in breast cancer.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: Mepitel Film (MF) has been demonstrated to reduce the severity of radiation dermatitis (RD) in patients receiving breast cancer radiotherapy (RT). The objective of this study was to characterize patient-reported experience with MF use, including its impact on daily activities and wellbeing. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This single-institution study analyzed anonymized responses to a questionnaire completed by patients who used MF for the prevention of RD during breast cancer RT. RESULTS: Of the 254 patients contacted, 192 patients completed the survey. Most patients disagre
