Rhinocerebral mucormycosis (zygomycosis) is an opportunistic fungal infection caused by saprophytic fungus. It involves several areas of the body, but the rhinocerebral form is most relevant to health care providers. Zygomycosis is associated with medically compromised patients. Our case reports an unhealed ulcer present over the palate of 15 days duration associated with swelling over the maxillary sinus region. This case is a blend of clinical, radiological, and histological manifestations of mucormycosis in a patient.

A 18 year young, healthy, immunocompetent girl presented with proptosis of left eye, referred to eye OPD, suspected clinico-radiologically as malignancy. This presentation with suspicion of malignancy resulted into extensive surgical debridement with removal of left eye, which was diagnosed as mucormycosis on histopathological examination. Her eye could have been saved if the mucormycosis was highly suspected initially, because of the good general health and immunocompetency led to misdirected thought.

Tuberculosis remains a major international health problem despite advances in radiological diagnosis and antituberculous therapy. Disseminated tuberculous infection affecting a single bone and manifested as multifocal lytic cortical lesions is rare and unusual. We report on a 50-year-old man with multifocal involvement of the femur by tuberculosis and demonstrate positive reaction using tuberculosis-polymerase chain reaction on formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded histological specimens.

Infection produced by Entamoeba histolytica constitutes a clinical problem of great importance due to its frequence and serious complications. Age, diagnosis and clinical manifestations, phisic exploration, lab. procedures, proctosigmoidoscopy, radiology, complications, pathologic anatomy, statistical reports from the Ministry of Health and Social Asistence in addition we emphasize on the importance of an accurate and precocious diagnosis. Based on the belief that fee-for-service reimbursement contributes to the overuse of costly medical procedures, policymakers have sought to cut payments for low-value services. Using a difference-in-differences model and Medicare claims linked with cancer registry records, we evaluate the impact of a large payment reduction for an imaging procedure commonly used in prostate cancer patients. Our study examines the risk of melanoma among medical radiation workers in the U.S. Radiologic Technologists (USRT) study. We evaluated 68,588 white radiologic technologists (78.8% female), certified during 1926-1982, who responded to a baseline questionnaire (1983-1989) and were free of cancer other than nonmelanoma skin at that time.
