AIM: To report a case of bilateral posterior scleritis associated with giant cell arteritis Case Report: A 62-year-old female patient presented with bilateral progressive vision loss was diagnosed with bilateral posterior scleritis. According to clinical signs and symptoms and laboratory testing, Giant cell arteritis was also diagnosed. Within 8 weeks of the corticosteroid treatment, the serous retinal detachments completely resolved and choroidal thickness decreased in both eyes. PURPOSE: To report a case of pterygium excision-related infectious scleritis with late-onset intrascleral dissemination.
METHODS: Case report.
RESULTS: A 72-year-old female patient was referred for Stenotrophomonas maltophilia scleritis after undergoing pterygium excision 18 years earlier. Surgical debridement and a tectonic corneal patch graft, along with conjunctival flap, were performed to repair the scleral defect after treatment with fortified topical and systemic antibiotics. Fungal endophthalmitis following subconjunctival triamcinolone acetonide in anterior scleritis is a rare complication. Two patients with anterior scleritis, who received subconjunctival injection of triamcinolone developed fungal endophthalmitis. Both patients were positive by smear and polymerase chain reaction for 28S ribosomal RNA gene for fungus. Colletotrichum dematium was identified in one patient. Both patients responded well to pars plana vitrectomy and antifungal therapy.

We report a case of human ocular onchocerciasis by zoonotic Onchocerca lupi presenting as nodular scleritis. Molecular analyses were used to confirm diagnosis at species level. In addition to few existing reports of human infection by O. lupi in Turkey, this case further suggests that the pathogen might be more common than previously reported, thus requiring further attention and investigations.
