SERTA Domain Containing Protein 1 (SERTAD1) Interacts with Classical Swine Fever Virus Structural Glycoprotein E2, Which Is Involved in Virus Virulence in Swine.

E2 is the major structural glycoprotein of the classical swine fever virus (CSFV). E2 has been shown to be involved in important virus functions such as replication and virulence in swine. Using the yeast two-hybrid system, we previously identified several host proteins specifically interacting with CSFV E2. Here, we analyze the protein interaction of E2 with SERTA domain containing protein 1 (SERTAD1), a factor involved in the stimulation of the transcriptional activities of different host genes. We have confirmed that the interaction between these two proteins occurs in CSFV-infected swine c…

Comparative genomic hybridization analysis of hereditary swine cutaneous melanoma revealed loss of the swine 13q36-49 chromosomal region in the nodular melanoma subtype.

Genetic alterations implicated in malignant melanoma are still poorly understood. Malignant melanomas present highly variable histologic and cytologic patterns. The aim of the present study is to define genomic imbalances associated with the development of 2 histologic types of swine hereditary cutaneous melanoma. We have investigated 11 swine tumors by comparative genomic hybridization (CGH), 4 superficial spreading melanomas (SSMs) and 7 nodular melanomas (NMs). Following laser capture microdissection and degenerate oligonucleotide primed-polymerase chain reaction, we were able to isolate an…

Field Trial Demonstrates Superiority of a Live Attenuated Vaccine for Integrated Control of Mycoplasmal pneumonia of Swine and Improved Production Performance in Commercial Swine Farms.

A field trial was conducted on a single commercial swine farm to compare the integrated control efficacy of an inactivated vaccine and a live attenuated vaccine against mycoplasmal pneumonia of swine (MPS). Mhp exposure in the herd was confirmed by qPCR prior to trial initiation. Initially, 30 five-day-old piglets were randomly assigned to three groups (10 piglets per group): non-immunized control, inactivated vaccine, and live attenuated vaccine, for clinical safety evaluation. Based on this, another 900 five-day-old piglets, confirmed Mhp-negative by antigen detection, were randomly allocate…

[In silico prediction of B- and T-cell epitopes in the CD2v protein of african swine fever virus (African swine fever virus, Asfivirus, Asfarviridae).].

INTRODUCTION: African swine fever virus (ASF) is a large DNA virus that is the only member of the Asfarviridae family. The spread of the ASF virus in the territory of the Russian Federation, Eastern Europe and China indicates the ineffectiveness of existing methods of combating the disease and reinforces the urgent need to create effective vaccines. One of the most significant antigens required for the formation of immune protection against ASF is a serotype-specific CD2v protein. THE PURPOSE OF THE STUDY: This study presents the results of immuno-informatics on the identification of B- and T…
