INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Solitary bone plasmacytoma (SBP) is a hematopoietic malignancy occurring in bone tissue, which often causes bone destruction at the site of the lesion. When the lesion occurs in the spine and causes spinal stenosis and compression of the spinal cord, surgery is performed as an adjuvant treatment before radiotherapy.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 36-year-old patient suffered from neck, shoulder and upper limbs pain for 3 weeks and the symptom worsened for 3 days after exercise. CT and MRI examination of the neck after emergency admission revealed C5 vertebral pathological f

OBJECTIVE: To explore the perioperative management of pathological fractures in spinal tuberculosis patients undergoing vertebral augmentation, and to provide clinical data for the differential diagnosis of spinal tuberculosis.
METHODS: A retrospective analysis was conducted on the clinical data of 30 spinal tuberculosis patients who underwent vertebral augmentation from April 2017 to May 2022. According to the treatment methods, the patients were divided into three groups:Group A (posterior spinal approach with bone cement mass removal, decompression, and bone graft fusion),Group B(posterior spi

Tuberculosis (TB) is mainly a disease of the lungs, but Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb) can establish infection in virtually any organ in the body. Rising rates of extrapulmonary (EP) TB have been largely associated with the HIV epidemic, as patients co-infected with HIV show a four-fold higher risk of EPTB. Spinal TB (Pott's Disease), one of the most debilitating extrapulmonary forms of disease, is difficult to diagnose and can cause deformity and/or neurological deficits. This study examined the histopathology and distribution of immune cells within spinal TB lesions and the impact of HIV o

Acute transverse myelitis is an inflammatory condition covering the entire cross section of the spinal cord, spreading on two or more vertebral segments, without evidence of a compressive lesion. This shows clinically as an acute or subacute onset of paraparesis, lower limb paresthesia, sensory deficits, and impaired sphincter function. Mycobacterium tuberculosis is exceedingly rare cause of this inflammation, with a mechanism still not fully understood. The main etiologies are thought to be an abnormal activation of the immune system against the neuronal cells of the medulla, direct inoculati

Pott's disease is a vertebral infection caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Indolent nature and subacute course are associated with late diagnosis. A clinical case is presented whose diagnosis was delayed by atypical presentation with progressive worsening of symptoms. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of the dorsolumbar spine revealed T7-T8 angulation suggestive of secondary injury, with intracanalar extension and spinal cord compression. Gastric aspirate cultures, direct microscopy, and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) were A 79-yearold female came to the emergency department with right back
