BACKGROUND: Stump neuroma pain in amputees can be quite challenging. Surgical treatment may be largely subdivided into neuromodulative and non-neuromodulative methods. The latter includes neurocapsis, insertion of nerve stump into the bone marrow, centro-central short circuit (CCSC), and coverage with vascularized soft tissue flaps. CCSC was shown to be extremely effective in alleviation of pain. Reports on CCSC for the treatment of stump neuroma pain have disappeared from the literature, with a shift toward neuromodulation for the treatment of pain irrespective of etiology.

PURPOSE: The purpose of this work was to define the timing and magnitude of scleral contact lens settling, the factors influencing settling, and to examine whether the amount of apical clearance has an impact on clinical performance or is associated with hypoxia-induced corneal changes.
METHODS: Eleven patients (22 eyes) with keratoconus were fitted with a mini-scleral lens (Esclera, Brazil). Three different lenses with successively greater sagittal depths were applied to achieve 3 levels of initial apical clearance: 100 to 200 μm (low), 200 to 300 μm (medium), and greater than 300 μm (high).

BACKGROUND: The aim of this article is to report on the integration of endoscopic ear surgery (EES) into daily clinical practice.
MATERIAL AND METHODS: In a monocentric prospective study, the endoscopy unit was set up during even weeks over a period of 10 months and the procedure was primarily started endoscopically via a transmeatal approach.
