A case of extensive venereal warts in a nine-year-old female patient is presented. Transmission, pathology, and therapy are discussed.

Primary closure of vulvar excisions is usually satisfactory in the anterior vulva, where the skin is mobile. In the posterior and posterolateral areas, however, closure often must be accomplished under tension with resulting wound breakdown and scar formation that can be disfiguring and cause dyspareunia. The rhomboid skin flap was described as early as 1946. Initially described for closure of facial defects, the technique has found application in the closure of a variety of traumatic and surgical defects. The authors present eight patients who underwent closure of vulvar defects using single

A female of 66 who presented with long-standing pruritus vulvae showed angiokeratoma of the vulva as an incidental finding. This benign tumour is uncommon and in a survey of 150 patients over 50 years old (mean age 76.9), no further example was found.

Ancillary immunohistochemistry (IHC) has become a reliable adjunct for subclassification of gynecological neoplasms. An important recent development was optimization and validation of p53 IHC, where 3 abnormal IHC patterns (nuclear overexpression, complete absence, cytoplasmic) were shown to predict underlying TP53 mutations with high accuracy in ovarian carcinomas. p53 IHC now helps in distinguishing high-grade serous from low-grade serous carcinomas. Thereafter, the new interpretation of p53 IHC was quickly adapted for other purposes and similar accuracies were shown in endometrial carcinoma

For some gynecologic malignancies, there are disagreements between the most recent WHO and TNM classifications and the recommendations of the International Collaboration of Cancer Reporting. These discrepancies are addressed and discussed in this paper. The WHO definition for primary vaginal cancer does not match the TNM definition. The paper also discusses and provides TNM classifications for rare gynecologic tumors like primary malignant vulvar melanomas, sarcomas of the vulva, perivascular epithelioid cell tumor (PECom) of the uterus, undifferentiated uterine sarcomas, and extra-intestinal

Sarcomas represent only 2%-3% of all female genital tract malignancies. Only 10% occur outside the uterus (vulva, vagina, ovaries, fallopian tubes, uterine ligaments). The morphology of these tumors is sometimes confusing. Sarcomas are often not diagnosed before they reach a very advanced stage. A large percentage of sarcomas occur in very young women. Treatment is not satisfactory and the prognosis has remained bad despite the use of chemotherapy for some tumors (e.g. embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma). Improvements in diagnosis and therapy require pooling of experience and the establishment of an a

In 1983, Steeper and Rosai described aggressive angiomyxoma as a rare, slow growing, locally infiltrative, soft tissue tumor that occurs mainly in the genital, perineal and pelvic region, mostly in women. Usually this tumor is nonmetastasing. Recurrence is frequent in about 30%-72% cases. Angiomyxoma demonstrates estrogen and progesterone receptor positivity. Primary surgical resection is the treatment of choice. Hormonal therapy with tamoxifen, raloxifene, and gonadotropin-releasing hormone analogs (GnRH agonists) and vascular embolization are used as the treatment of recurrence and may help

We report a case of melanoma of the female urethra, recurring on the vulva as a desmoplastic invasive melanoma. The urethral tumor was an unclassifiable melanoma with an invasive epithelioid, and an intraepidermal atypical melanocytic component. The desmoplastic recidive was made of intersecting fascicles of spindled, moderately atypical cells, scattered over a dense collagenous matrix. Tumor cells were immunoreactive for S100 protein and vimentin, negative for HMB45. The morphological and immunophenotypic differences with the initial tumor, the absence of melanocytic dysplasia within the over

There are now known to be many genotypes of human papillomavirus (HPV). Types 6 and 11 are closely associated with benign lesions of genitoanal epithelia; the classical forms are condylomata acuminata and papular warts, collectively known as genitoanal or "venereal" warts, but it is now known that subclinical infections are much more common. These were first identified on the cervix uteri by colposcopy after the application of acetic acid, but they can also be found on penile and vulval epithelia by the same technique. Genitoanal HPV infection is an increasingly common disease; because it is u

OBJECTIVE: The aim of the study was to describe the clinicopathologic features of vulvovaginal or anal high-grade squamous intraepithelial lesion (HSIL) comorbid with lichen sclerosus and/or lichen planus (LS/LP).
METHODS: The local pathology database identified 37 consecutive cases from 2007 to 2019 of vulvar, vaginal, or anal HSIL among women who had a histopathologic diagnosis of vulvar LS/LP. Cases had p16 and p53 immunoperoxidase stains. Clinical data included age, relative location of HSIL and LS/LP, immune-modifying conditions, tobacco use, treatment type, and follow-up. Histopathologi

Digital papillary adenocarcinoma (DPAC) is an uncommon cutaneous adnexal tumor that predominantly involves the skin of the fingers and toes and is associated with human papillomavirus 42 infection. The histologic features can be deceptively bland, but awareness of the entity in typical locations facilitates diagnosis. We describe a case of extradigital DPAC arising in vulvar skin, with the diagnosis confirmed using in situ hybridization for HPV42. Extradigital DPAC is very rare and presents a significant diagnostic challenge, particularly in this anatomical location where a range of other more

Vulvar cancer is one of the rarest gynecological malignancies. The development of this condition can be associated with either dysplasia linked to human papillomavirus (HPV), primarily affecting younger women, or vulvar dermatoses such as lichen sclerosus, which predominantly affect older women. Over the last decade, the incidence of vulvar cancer has risen by 0.6% annually, while the relative survival rate has declined. Although metastasis to the vulva is uncommon, it can occur, particularly from cancers in nearby organs such as the cervix, bladder, rectum, or anus. More rarely, metastases fr

We herein describe the preoperative and postoperative clinical data of a patient with a rare case of vulvar malignant melanoma and discuss her clinical characteristics and prognosis. After surgical resection and immunotherapy, the patient's illness continued to worsen. She then received local vulvar radiotherapy. However, further treatment was discontinued because of intolerable complications of radiotherapy, and the patient died about 18 months postoperatively. Management of vulvar malignant melanoma is challenging. No unified, effective, and standardized diagnostic and treatment plan has bee
