The clearwing moth, Tyrictaca hyalina (Kallies Arita, 2001) (Tinthiini, Sesiidae), was reared from cultivated Ficus microcarpa L.f. which were imported from China to Poland. Tyrictaca hyalina is native to southeast Asia and was probably reared before from the same imported Ficus plants in Germany and France. Bats have been gaining attention as potential reservoir hosts of numerous viruses pathogenic to animals and man. Issyk-Kul virus, a member of the family Nairoviridae, was first isolated in the 1970s from vespertilionid bats in Central Asia. Issyk-Kul virus has been described as human-pathogenic virus, causing febrile outbreaks in humans with headaches, myalgia and nausea. Here we describe the detection of a novel strain of Issyk-Kul virus from Eptesicus nilssonii in Germany. This finding indicates for the first time the prevalence of these zoonotic viruses in Europe.

Tinea nigra is a superficial infection caused by dematiaceous fungi. The clinical skin lesion is characterized by well-circumscribed brown-black macule patches on the palms and soles. Dirofilariasis is a worldwide zoonotic filariasis with over 782 cases reported so far from different parts of the world. Human dirofilariasis, caused by Dirofilaria repens, have been reported to occur widely throughout Asia, Europe, and Africa. It has not been widely recognized in India, however; several cases have been reported in last few years. There is probably a focus of human infection with D. repens in Kerala. Herein, we present a review of human infections by D. repens, along with a case report of subconjunctival dirofilariasis from rural part of Gujarat.

Dengue fever is considered to be one of the major health problems in south east Asia. In the recent past, epidemic outbreaks of Dengue have also been noticed in India. Initially, the neurological manifestations which were associated with Dengue received little attention, but now, there have been several reports of encephalitis and encephalopathy . However, nowhere in the literature has Dengue fever been mentioned as a cause of acute psychosis or mania.
