INTRODUCTION: Volar fixed-angle plating is a popular treatment for unstable distal radius fractures. Despite the availability of plating systems for treating distal radius fractures, little is known about the mechanical properties of multidirectional fixed-angle plates. The Acutrak plus compression screw (APCS) (Acumed Inc., Beaverton, OR, USA) is an intramedullary implant which can achieve stable fixation with minimum soft tissue dissection. The characteristics of the APCS include fully-threaded length, headless, cannulated, and variable thread pitch. Twenty-three patients with AO type-B2 ankle fractures treated with lateral fixation by an APCS were retrospectively reviewed. Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction is a popular surgery with overall good results. However, postoperative fracture is a serious, albeit, rare complication. Femoral tunnel lysis may cause a stress riser effect leading to distal femur fractures after ACL reconstruction. We report a case in which a patient who underwent ACL reconstruction surgery 18 months before a low-energy twisting mechanism suffered a distal femur fracture requiring open reduction internal fixation.

PURPOSE: To report the functional and radiographic outcomes of a cohort of patients treated for ulnar impaction syndrome with a single technique of ulnar shortening osteotomy.
METHOD: We performed ulnar shortening osteotomy on 18 consecutive patients over a 10-year period by using an oblique osteotomy and compression plating technique with an AO compression device (Synthes, Paoli, PA). OBJECTIVES: To develop an anterior thoracolumbar K-plate fixation system and to report its preliminary clinical application.
METHODS: The K-plate system was developed with titanium alloy(TC4, Ti6A14V) and self-locking screw design was used. In 23 cases treated with this system, 13 had thoracolumbar fracture, 9 tuberculosis, and back syndrome after lumbar TFC operation.
