17 children presenting with craniopharyngioma were studied from 1970 to 1980. Presenting symptoms were usually reflecting endocrine dysfunction (13 of 17 cases), such as growth retardation, weight abnormalities, diabetes insipidus and hypothyroidism. Statural growth, physical and skeletal development of a girl with pseudohypoparathyroidism and primary hypothyroidism were analysed in a longitudinal study, which lasted for 12 years from the age of 0.8 years. Nutritional evaluations were undertaken on 102 Mexican-American preschool children who were below the 3rd percentile for height, weight, or head circumference. A 10-year analysis comprising a total of 534 patients was used to study the histories of 192 puerile and juvenile patients with maxillofacial injuries. A case of primary hypothyroidism associated with postpartum galactorrhea-amenorrhea is reported. The configuration of the sella was compatible with pituitary adenoma, but prolactin dynamics did not support an autonomous secretory state. Replacement therapy with thyroxine led to complete reversal of clinical, radiologic, and biochemical abnormalities.

From 68 hospitals in the National Wilms' Tumor Study, records of 547 patients showed six patients with aniridia, 16 with hemihypertrophy, and 24 with genitourinary abnormalities. Multiple cases of Wilms' tumor occurred in three families. The results confirm high frequencies of aniridia and genitourinary anomalies in patients with Wilms' tumor, and show that concurrence with hemihypertrophy may be more often recognized or recorded now than it was ten years ago. Besides the typical clinical symptoms of Robinow-Silverman-Smith-syndrome our patient shows a severe dislocation of the hip, feeding difficulties, and a marked morphological and mental retardation. A highly sensitive bioassay has been developed for prolactin, which uses a mammalian end organ and which is capable of measuring the hormone in unextracted human plasma. High prolactin activity, largely neutralizable with antiserum to human growth hormone, is stimulated along with high immunoassayable growth hormone by insulin-induced hypoglycemia. High prolactin activity, not neutralizable with antiserum to growth hormone, exists with low concentrations of plasma growth hormone in postpartum patients and patients with galactorrhea.
