OBJECTIVES: Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a multifactorial condition in which inflammation is increasingly implicated. The WNT/β-catenin signaling pathway, involved in inflammatory regulation and circadian mechanisms, may be altered in OCD. This study aimed to investigate serum β-catenin, glycogen synthase kinase-3β (GSK-3β), and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels in children with OCD, their associations with inflammatory markers interleukin-6 (IL-6) and high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), and their relationships with OCD severity and sleep-wake chronotype.

UNLABELLED: Following the findings of perceived poor sleep and of chronic pain among former heroin addicts, current methadone maintenance treatment (MMT) patients, and its possible relation to methadone dose, we studied these patients' objective sleep parameters. Former heroin addicts maintained on "Low" (n=19, <80 mg/d) or "High" (n=25, >150 mg/d) methadone doses, underwent one-night polysomnography (PSG). The co-occurrence of insomnia and mental disorders constitutes the most prevalent diagnosis pattern found in sleep disorder clinics. BACKGROUND: Fatigue is a frequent and debilitating symptom in patients with primary biliary cirrhosis (PBC).
AIMS: To study fatigue in relation to sleep, depression, and liver disease severity.
METHODS: Patients with PBC completed validated self report questionnaires measuring fatigue, sleep quality, depression, and functional capacity. Verbally reported fatigue and observer rated measure of depression and ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) use were recorded.
