Understanding the mental health effects of social support among university students: a hybrid SEM-ANN approach.

Physical fitness test results are an important indicator of college students’ physical condition. After officially enrolling, Chinese college students undergo physical training, which not only greatly improves their fitness, but also helps cultivate discipline and stress resilience. At the same time, the transition into university life may pose psychological challenges for some students. Social support has been widely recognized as a key protective factor for mental health during demanding transitional periods. However, the psychological mechanisms through which social support is associated wi

A Stepwise Telemedicine Follow-Up System for Blood Donors in a University Blood Bank: Prospective Implementation Study.

BACKGROUND: Conventional mail-based follow-up for blood donors with abnormal postdonation results provides no delivery confirmation and precludes 2-way communication, creating an accountability gap in donor safety. Social support as a buffer in the relationship between perceived stress and PTSD among South African university students.

Mental health research has increasingly moved beyond linear risk models that view adversity as having uniform effects on psychological outcomes, toward identifying protective factors that shape responses to stress. This study examined social support as one such factor in the relationship between perceived stress and PTSD among South African university students. Participants (n = 491) completed the Perceived Stress Scale, the PTSD Checklist for DSM-5, and the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support. Moderation analysis found no significant direct effect of social support on PTSD. How

Self-assessed palliative care competence of healthcare professionals in a Finnish university hospital: A mixed methods study.

BACKGROUND: While the need for palliative care (PC) is growing, both national and international studies have shown insufficient PC competence among healthcare professionals. Good PC both reduces healthcare costs and promotes quality of life. It is therefore necessary to examine the current state of healthcare professionals' level of PC competence and identify the areas in particular need of improvement. OBJECTIVE: To describe the self-assessed PC competence of healthcare professionals working in a university hospital, and to study which background factors are associated with it, in order to i

Expanding Access to Specialized Mental Health Services for Youths in Crisis Through a State-Provider-University Partnership.

Self-injurious thoughts and behaviors (SITBs) pose a clear risk to adolescents' health and well-being. Although established treatments (e.g., dialectical behavior therapy [DBT]) for youths experiencing SITB exist, numerous challenges reduce the feasibility of delivering such treatments in community-based settings. To address the need for increased access to specialized mental health treatments among youths, a state, provider, and university partnership was developed to codesign and implement a DBT-informed clinical training model within the existing community-based mental health provider teams
