Reports of the tension-free vaginal tape (TVT) procedure performed in combination with reconstructive vaginal surgery have been published, but none of these has looked specifically at the sub-group of TVT in combination with sacrospinous colpopexy. This report describes a series of 15 cases where TVT was performed in combination with sacrospinous colpopexy. There were no major complications. Five patients (33.3%) had postoperative urine retention for more than 1 week. Mild incontinence was reported in five cases at 12 months. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of lying and sitting positions on urodynamic parameters and diagnoses. The clinical efficacy of a new device for treatment of female incontinence was studied in a multicenter trial. The device consists of an inflatable electrode carrier and an external stimulator unit. Forty women were treated: 10 had primary or recurrent genuine stress incontinence, 15 had urge incontinence due to idiopathic detrusor instability, not responding to drug treatment, and 15 had stress incontinence combined with detrusor instability. Nineteen men with post-prostatectomy urinary incontinence grade II and III (mean follow-up 12.7 months) underwent periurethral injections of collagen. In all, 37 procedures were performed; 58% of the patients underwent the procedure at least twice. A mean of 16 ml collagen was injected. A continent ileocecal reservoir was created as an alternative to ileal loop urinary diversion in 7 patients. In 3 patients the bladder neck was closed, the in situ bladder was augmented and a continent stoma was formed by intussusception of the ileocecal valve. In the remaining 4 patients an isolated cecal reservoir with a continent stoma replaced the bladder. Creation of a stoma that was continent and easy to catheterize was achieved by intussusception of the ileocecal valve with stabilization of the intussuscepted nipple using a Marlex collar.
