OBJECTIVE: We wanted to assess possible alterations in brain activation in PTSD patients with severe hyperarousal symptoms and impulsive aggressiveness.
METHOD: 25 Croatian War (1991-1995) veterans with combat-related PTSD with severe hyperarousal symptoms and impulsive aggressiveness were assessed for possible alterations in cerebral blood flow in single photon emission computed tomography brain scans.
RESULTS: Increased regional cerebral blood flow in projection area of nucleus accumbens was found in 13 of 25 subjects, and for all in the dominant brain hemisphere.

Seventy-four male veterans entering an alcohol abuse treatment program were screened for additional psychiatric diagnoses using the Diagnostic Interview Schedule (DIS). Fifty-four of these also completed a questionnaire on personal and family drinking history. Over half (54.1%) had another diagnosis. Appendicitis in adults is thought to occur because of luminal obstruction from a fecalith. We present a unique case of a patient who had her entire appendiceal lumen occupied by a fecalith (5.0 cm long) but had no appendicitis. We reviewed the records of 257 veterans who underwent surgical intervention at our institution for the management of acute appendicitis. Fecaliths occurred in 15.6% of patients. The purpose of this study was to identify risk factors for flatfoot deformity, which itself can be a causative factor for other foot and ankle pathologies. Mood changes across time were evaluated as they applied to the process of volunteer blood donation. Measures of mood (from the Mood Adjective Check List) were taken before and at three different intervals after blood donations by 245 college students. Anxiety scores were significantly higher before blood donation, and elation scores showed a significant increase following donation.
