PURPOSE: Calcium sulfate (CaS) is a simple, biocompatible material with a very long, safe clinical history in several different fields of medicine. CaS is a rapidly resorbing material that leaves behind a calcium phosphate lattice, which promotes bone regeneration and hemostasis. The aim of this study was to perform a clinical evaluation of a possible hemostatic effect of calcium sulfate hemihydrate (CaSO(4)), commonly known as plaster of Paris, in the surgical and orthodontic treatment of impacted teeth.

Tibial bone defect is a critical problem for revision knee arthroplasty. Instead of using metallic spacer or cement, biodegradable scaffolds could be an alternative solution. This report demonstrates the successful clinical use of a modified root-analogue zirconia implant for immediate single tooth replacement. A right maxillary premolar was removed and a custom-made, root-analogue, roughened zirconia implant with macro-retentions in the interdental space was fabricated and placed into the extraction socket 4 days later. The 4-year outcomes of a prospective study of patients undergoing Triathlon total knee arthroplasty (TKA) are presented. There were 2035 consecutive cemented TKAs performed on 1688 patients. This study reviews the predisposing features, the clinical, and laboratory findings at the time of diagnosis and the results of single-stage revision of prosthetic replacement of the elbow for infection. Deep infection occurred in six of 305 (1.9%) primary total elbow replacements. Background. The aseptic loosening of the stem is a frequent complication of post-resection endoprosthesis. Material and methods. Twenty-one patients were operated for primary neoplasm of the distal femoral epiphysis. In 3 cases (14.3%) loosening of the endoprosthesis stem appeared 4 to 8 years after the resection-reconstruction procedure. Constrained acetabular components have been used to treat certain cases of intraoperative instability and postoperative dislocation after total hip arthroplasty.
