BACKGROUND: Bone tunneling and implants with rigid fixations for medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction are known to compromise results and are avoidable, especially in skeletally immature subjects. This study was to assess if these deficiencies were overcome with the technique devised by the author which avoids implants and bone tunnels. Results were assessed for complication rate and outcome.

INTRODUCTION: Patient with poliomyelitis can have long-term sequelae such as paralysis and muscle weakness in their lower limb caused by motor atrophy and degradation of motor and autonomic neurons. Patients can also develop osteoporosis, causing instability. This leads to a greater risk of falls and fractures, such as hip fractures. BACKGROUND: Radial head arthroplasty is a viable option in cases with terrible triad injuries of elbow, wherein the radial head sustains significant comminution that precludes reconstruction. Nevertheless, this alternative is not recommended for individuals with poor elbow skin conditions, accompanied neuropsychiatric disorders, or low patient compliance. This case report presents a patient with bilateral terrible triad injury, along with the aforementioned conditions. A review was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of the intra-articular haematoma block (IAHB) for manipulation of ankle fractures in ED. Any study investigating the success of IAHB for ankle fracture reduction published in English was sought. Seven databases were searched. The Cochrane Risk of Bias tool was used to quality assess the included studies. Three studies met the inclusion criteria (n = 436 patients). Just one study was a randomised controlled trial (n = 42). The two non-randomised studies that included the majority of patients were assessed as at high overall risk of bias.

BACKGROUND: There are several therapeutic strategies for restoring the anterior column of the vertebral body after trauma, tumor and infection. We present a multicenter study with a new distractable titanium implant for vertebral body replacement.

OBJECTIVE: To determine whether type of fracture or gunshot injury correlated with extent of motor impairment at 1 month and/or with the amount of motor recovery between 1 month and 1 year.

STUDY PARTICIPANTS: One hundred forty-two patients with sports injuries presenting to the emergency department and requiring hospitalization over 2 years.
MEASUREMENTS/RESULTS: Serious sports injuries accounted for 13% of admissions for trauma, 0.6% of visits to the emergency department for trauma, and approximately 0.14% of total encounters.
