AIMS: to carry out a retrospective analysis of myringoplasty results in children in our institute.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: Thirty five children, 9 to 14 years old, who underwent myringoplasty in our hospital between April 2002 and May 2004, formed the study group. Data regarding successful perforation closure, factors influencing success rates and hearing improvement were recorded.
RESULTS: Closure of perforation was successful in 30 (85.7%) of the 35 patients. Graft take failure occurred in 5 patients. Audiological improvement was seen in 27 (77%) patients, out of which 23 cases had 10-15 db

Intravenous iron supplementation is a recognized therapy for anemia in chronic hemodialysis patients, especially in those treated with erythropoietin. This is a retrospective epidemiological study. The objective is to determine the epidemiological characteristics including the patient demographics, etiological factors, duration of symptoms, treatment modalities applied and clinical outcome of the treatment in reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD). From 1986 to 1994 18 patients with 19 IIIB open tibial fractures were treated following similar therapeutic management. This included early and radical primary debridement, early and wherever possible immediate internal fixation of the bone and coverage with a local muscle flap (hemisoleus or gastrocnemius). Neurologic complications resulting from surgery for 384 cases of cervical myelopathy (cervical soft disc herniation, spondylosis, ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament) were reviewed.
