Distant metastases from oral squamous cell carcinoma are unusual, but generally occur in lungs, bone, and liver. Cutaneous metastasis is extremely rare, and it often reflects an advanced stage with sinister prognosis. The authors report an 81-year-old male patient with multifocal cutaneous metastases from a recurrent squamous cell carcinoma of the hard palate 5 months after primary treatment.

We report on a rare case of botryoid Wilms tumor extending into the duodenum. This uncommon macroscopic form of nephroblastoma consists entirely of a polypoid renal intrapelvic mass. The main differential diagnosis of this unusual tumor is botryoid rhabdomyosarcoma. A 14-month-old boy presented with a painful abdominal mass. Although en bloc resection for contiguous invasion by adenocarcinoma of the colon is a well-recognized principle, it is difficult to assess the efficacy of this principle when upper abdominal viscera are involved. METHODS: miRNA was isolated from 157 radical nephroureterectomy specimens from 2 institutions. Carcinomas of the lung that infiltrate the blood vessels close to the heart (left atrium, pulmonary artery and aorta) without spreading to mediastinal lymph nodes or developing distant metastases are rare overall. Such situations are often classified as primarily inoperable by interdisciplinary tumour boards. This is only the case if, for technical reasons, an experienced thoracic surgeon does not feel able to perform a resection with a surrounding margin of healthy tissue. The use of less radical procedures for the treatment of early cervical cancers is gaining interest among physicians and young patients. Some authors have described surgical procedures aimed at reducing the surgical aggressiveness but the safety of such procedures remains debated. After a polypectomy, a young patient had a diagnosis of stage Ia(2) cervical adenosquamous carcinoma in 1995. As she wished to preserve her fertility, she underwent a cone biopsy and pelvic lymphadenectomy, without evidence of tumor spread. In 1998, at the 13th week of gestation, she had a diagnosis of a pelvic mass.

The case history is reported of a 59-year-old man with a locally symptomatic sacral chordoma. During treatment with radical radiotherapy, he developed gas gangrene, which proved rapidly fatal. At post-mortem examination there was evidence of local invasion of the rectum by the tumour and extensive gangrenous myonecrosis (gas gangrene) involving the pelvic tissues and left leg. An unexpected finding was the presence of histologically distinct bilateral renal cell carcinomas. Neither gas gangrene nor renal cell cancer has been reported previously in association with sacral chordoma.

We studied 18 cystoprostatourethrectomy specimens, which were surgically removed for bladder cancer and step-sectioned in 0.5 cm thickness, to evaluate the relationship of the membranous and penile urethral lesions, with the multiplicity of bladder cancer, association of carcinoma in situ (CIS), bladder neck involvement, and prostatic involvement.
