Methylation-specific, universal, and highly sensitive identification of ctDNA in prostate cancer by multiplex droplet digital PCR.

OBJECTIVE: Liquid biopsy for detection of circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) offers a promising, non-invasive strategy for real-time monitoring of cancer. We aimed to develop a universal and sensitive one-tube droplet digital PCR (ddPCR) multiplex assay able to detect ctDNA in plasma from metastatic prostate cancer (PCa) patients. METHODS: Publicly available array data are applied to identify methylation signatures specific to both normal and cancerous prostate tissue. The assay is based on the highly sensitive ddPCR technology, and tissue and plasma samples are analyzed using the QX600 ddPCR mult

Wall Shear Imaging With Synthetic Aperture Universal Sequence: Preliminary In Vivo Precision Assessment in the Carotid Artery.

Wall shear stress (WSS) plays a crucial role in the initiation and progression of atherosclerosis. However, its noninvasive quantification remains challenging due to the limited spatiotemporal resolution and scalability of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), as well as the limited precision (±30% error range) and image quality tradeoff of existing ultrasound-based approaches. This study presents an ultrasound-based wall shear imaging (WASHI) framework that simultaneously provides high-quality B-mode images and spatiotemporally resolved WSS maps, and evaluates its accuracy and precision. Identification of two novel conserved linear epitopes and development of a blocking ELISA for universal serological detection of PEDV.

Porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV), a highly contagious acute coronavirus, causes severe mortality in piglets and threatens the global swine industry. Widespread PEDV mutations limit vaccine efficacy, highlighting the need for universal antibody detection assays to monitor infections and evaluate vaccine-induced immunity. The conserved PEDV nucleocapsid (N) protein elicits early high-titer antibody responses, making it an ideal diagnostic target. Here, we generated 2 monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against the PEDV N protein. Through molecular docking, molecular dynamics simulations, and trun

A pharmacist-led intervention to promote the uptake of an infliximab biosimilar by patients and physicians in a university hospital rheumatology unit.

OBJECTIVES: Biosimilars represent an opportunity to reduce healthcare costs. An infliximab biosimilar (b-IFX) was introduced in our hospital in 2017. Our pharmacist-led intervention aimed to improve the adoption rate of b-IFX by rheumatology physicians and outpatients. METHODS: In 2020, pharmacists started educating rheumatologists via medical meetings and online surveys. When the substitution rate plateaued (63%), we initiated a prospective cohort study. A senior pharmacist interviewed patients and gave them oral and written information during their infusions with the originator infliximab (

Theory-Based Approach to Increasing Enrollment in a Universal Parent-Focused Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Workshop.

Child sexual abuse (CSA) is a public health concern of considerable magnitude requiring universal attention and prevention efforts. All parents have the potential to prevent CSA when provided the knowledge and skills to do so; however, engagement in universal prevention is a widely faced challenge that threatens the dissemination of such knowledge and skills into parents' hands. Albeit widely faced, this challenge is poorly understood and largely unaddressed-indicative of a clear need for innovative solutions to promote engagement in universal prevention programs. The purpose of this study was

Wearable-Derived Evening Motion Entropy and Morning Light Exposure Are Associated with Depressive Symptoms in University Students.

Depressive symptoms are prevalent in university students, yet scalable screening is constrained by self-report and intermittent assessment. Wearable monitoring of motion and light offers an objective alternative, though their combined screening characterization is limited. Undergraduate volunteers wore a self-designed wristband for seven days, recording triaxial acceleration and ambient light at 1 min resolution. Depressive symptoms were assessed via nine-item Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9) and grouped as Dep (≥5) or HC (<5). Motion and light rhythm features were extracted from 24 h prof

Self-esteem and inner strengths: a network study in Thai university students with borderline personality disorder symptoms.

INTRODUCTION: Self-esteem is widely regarded as an important construct in the psychological functioning of individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) symptoms. During emerging adulthood, fluctuations in self-esteem are often linked to emotional dysregulation and maladaptive adjustment; however, self-esteem has rarely been examined within a broader system of culturally relevant psychological resources. Drawing on the Theravāda Buddhist framework of the Ten Pāramīs, inner strengths may represent protective resources that can be examined alongside self-esteem to clarify how these stre

Implementing a medicines dispensing service in a university pharmacy: A qualitative study of experiential learning and work system factors.

BACKGROUND: Dispensing can be a strategic clinical service when organized around the care process. Such models are relevant in university affiliated pharmacies (UPh), where service delivery is integrated with experiential education. However, their implementation may be challenged by organizational resistance. This study explored barriers and facilitators to implementing a medicines dispensing service model from a sociotechnical perspective. METHODS: A qualitative study was conducted in a UPh. Participants were pharmacist preceptors, faculty members, and pharmacy interns (n = 18). Data were co

Implementation of a Modified Fracture Liaison Service at Aarhus University Hospital: A 2-Year Retrospective Cohort Study.

Fragility fractures are a consequence of osteoporosis and the strongest indicator of sustaining a future fracture. Effective fracture prevention strategies are therefore needed to reduce the incidence of fragility fractures. Fracture Liaison Services (FLS) are globally recognized as the most effective approach. Inspired by their success, the Danish Health Authority recommended nationwide implementation of prevention programs. With limited funding, the fracture prevention program at Aarhus University Hospital (AUH) was established in 2022 as a modified version. Here, we describe the implementat

AHA/ACC/ESC/WHF Expert Consensus Document: Second Universal Definition of Heart Failure (2026).

Heart failure (HF) remains a pressing health concern, with rising prevalence globally. Subjectivity and ambiguity in the definition of HF and its antecedent stages have limited research, global surveillance, and prevention programs. To address this, several cardiac societies and foundations convened to standardize the definition of HF in 2021 and designated stage B or pre-HF to identify individuals at risk of developing HF. In subsequent years, substantial progress and changes have been made in aspects of preventing HF, improving HF diagnosis and management, and recognizing the importance of t
