Transurethral ureteroscopy has now been used in an attempt to retrieve ureteric calculi in 48 patients. Six stones were located in the upper ureter, 11 in the middle and 31 in the lower third of the ureter. Successful retrieval was achieved in 27 patients at the first attempt and in 4 at a second ureteroscopy. Of the 17 failures, 7 patients have required open ureterolithotomy, 3 percutaneous nephrolithotomy and the remainder passed their stones either after in situ disintegration or ureteric meatotomy. A case of prepenile scrotum associated with hypospadias and syndactyly is reported. The patient was a full-termed first baby of the 25-year-old mother who had no history of congenital malformation. The clinical laboratory study including chromosomal check and I.V.P. revealed no abnormalities. Two-step operative repair was performed scrotoplasty at 2 years old and urethroplasty at 4 years old. As far as we have reviewed, 18 reports of this malformation have been published in Japan.

Reported in this study are urinary flow parameters recorded from patients, prior to and other operations for stress incontinence. These parameters were compared with values obtained from control patients with normal continence. Average urinary flow was found to go up slightly. All other time parameters as well as volumes of micturition were extended or increased, but these changes could not be statistically secured for each of the parameters. The findings are discussed together with information from literature.

Our objectives in this study were to elucidate various aspects of the epidemiology of Staphylococcus saprophyticus. This organism was isolated from the midstream urine specimens of 7.5% of 145 college women with frequency and urgency of urination and dysuria, but from only 0.07% of 14,835 urine specimens from adult inpatients at the Victoria General Hospital. Integration of the pressures along the functional part of the female urethral profile performed by planimetry adds information to what can be obtained by measuring functional length alone. In 43 patients with urinary stress incontinence, a statistically significant lower area of the profile was found in patients with decreased urethral resistance (diagnosed by pressure-flow study and micturition cystourethrography), whereas patients with cystourethrocele had larger areas than a control group. Patients with cystocele or bladder insufficiency did not differ from the controls.

In 398 patients suffering from urinary incontinence seven urodynamic parameters were investigated. 75% resp. 78% had a normal max. urethral closure pressure. Only a part of the women was characterized by a descensus of the genital tract. Sixty-three heterosexual men were successfully treated with a single injection of spectinomycin hydrochloride 2 g for urethral infections with Neisseria gonorrhoeae. Chlamydia trachomatis was recovered from the urethra of 11 of these men both before and after treatment. In six men, the organism was isolated after but not before treatment. No isolates were obtained from the remaining men either before or after treatment. All 17 of the men who yielded C. trachomatis developed post-gonococcal urethritis.
