OBJECTIVES: Capillary hemangiomas are benign vascular tumors. They are commonly founded in the vertebral bodies but very seldom in the spinal cord. The most common symptom at onset is long-lasting axial pain without neurologic deficit. In rare cases, the onset may be acute with neurological deficit due to an intratumoral hemorrhage.

Thanatophoric Dysplasia (TD) is a congenital, sporadic and the most lethal skeletal dysplasia caused by new mutation in the FGFR3 gene. BACKGROUND: During development of the vertebrate eye, optic tissue is progressively compartmentalized into functionally distinct tissues. From the central to the peripheral optic cup, the original optic neuroepithelial tissue compartmentalizes, forming retina, ciliary body, and iris. To generate albino lines of Xenopus tropicalis, we injected fertilized eggs with mRNAs encoding zinc-finger nucleases (ZFNs) targeting the tyrosinase coding region. Surprisingly, vitiligo was observed on the skin of F0 frogs that had been injected with ZFN mRNAs, indicating that both tyrosinase genes in the genome were disrupted in all melanocytes within the vitiligo patches. Mutation analysis using genomic DNA from the skin revealed that two mosaic F0 frogs underwent spatially complex tyrosinase gene mutations. We present a case of short-rib polydactyly syndrome (SRPs) type 3 in which accurate prenatal diagnosis was feasible using both ultrasonography and 3D-CT.
