BACKGROUND: The diagnosis of viral gastroenteritis can be carried out by non-molecular techniques such as electron microscopy (EM), enzyme-immunoassay and latex agglutination tests and various molecular techniques. Normally molecular detection requires the use of three separate protocols to detect the three main causes of viral gastroenteritis, adenoviruses, rotaviruses and norwalk-like viruses (NLV) which have different types of nucleic acid. How mixed cryoglobulinemia (MC) affects cancer risk in chronic hepatitis C patients with sustained virologic response (SVR) remains unclear. In a 12-year prospective study, post-SVR MC was assessed every 3‒6 months.
