BACKGROUND: Psychotropic drugs are not recommended for child and adolescent eating disorders, though they are used empirically for symptomatic treatment and co-morbid conditions. Little is known about rates of prescribing or the beneficial and adverse effects.
OBJECTIVE: To ascertain rates and outcomes of psychotropic drug prescribing in child and adolescent eating disorder services.
METHOD: Retrospective case note study of eating disorder cases (n = 308), seen in one year in seven specialist UK services, covering indications, response to treatment, beneficial and adverse effects.

Individuals in drug treatment, particularly women, generally report high levels of past sexual and physical abuse. Although histories of sexual and physical abuse are associated with greater prevalence and severity of depression, anxiety, phobias, and interpersonal difficulties for individuals seeking substance-related treatment, several recent studies failed to show that prior sexual or physical abuse compromised short-term drug treatment outcomes. This study examined the possible effects of sexual and physical abuse on a wide array of behavioral domains over a two-year posttreatment period.

Alcohol continues to play a major etiologic role in blunt trauma. It is involved in 65-70% of fatal highway crashes. The role of illicit drugs, although accepted as an etiologic factor in trauma, is less well described. This is especially true of blunt and penetrating trauma related to violent crime. Generalized pustular psoriasis (GPP) is a rare and severe variant of psoriasis, often posing diagnostic challenges due to its clinical overlap with acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), a severe drug-induced hypersensitivity reaction. Spesolimab, a monoclonal antibody targeting the interleukin 36 (IL-36) receptor, provides rapid symptom relief for GPP flares, but real-world data remain limited.
