A total of 39 patients presenting with chronic suppurative otitis media were examined and treated based at the Department of Otorhinolaringology, Kursk Regional Clinical Hospital. The results of the study indicate that a group of patients treated with the use of platelet-enriched autogenous plasma simultaneously with sanation surgery and tympanoplasty underwent accelerated healing of the postoperative cavity and restoration of hearing compared with the patients who received the traditional treatment.

We describe a 51-year-old white man with discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) of the head, neck, trunk, and upper extremities of more than 20 years' duration who developed rapidly progressive squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the bilateral ear helices. Human papillomavirus (HPV) was detected from excised specimens from the ears via tissue immunohistochemistry. Human papillomavirus infection of discoid lesions may be responsible for the rapid progression of SCC of this patient's bilateral ear helices.

BACKGROUND: China and Thailand produce large amounts of jewellery that are sold domestically and abroad.
OBJECTIVE: To identify nickel release and metal content in earrings purchased in China and Thailand.
METHODS: A total of 557 earrings were randomly purchased from vendors in 11 markets located in Beijing, Chengdu, Bangkok, Patong Beach, and Hat Yai. OBJECTIVE: Description of a technique of middle ear obliteration (MEO) with blind sac closure of the external auditory canal with discussion of the indications for its use in cases of recalcitrant chronic otitis and in far advanced disease.
PATIENTS: All patients underwent otologic examination and audiologic and radiologic assessments in a quaternary center.
