Insights Into School-Based Physical Activity Implementation Strategies During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Thematic Analysis.

BACKGROUND: In the United States, most school-aged children do not meet recommended physical activity (PA) guidelines that promote health. Prior to the COVID-19 pandemic, schools were well-situated to provide children with structured PA opportunities through physical education, organized sports, recess and active transportation to school. However, the COVID-19 pandemic limited schools' abilities to provide these opportunities, likely due to the global adoption of recommended COVID-19 guidelines (e.g., social distancing guidelines, remote and hybrid learning, shared equipment limitations). The Relationship Between Family Dynamics and Help-Seeking and Disclosure of Adolescent Self-Harm and Suicidality: A Population-Representative Study: Relation entre dynamique familiale et recherche d'aide, et dévoilement des actes d'automutilation et de la suicidalité chez les adolescents : étude représentative de la population.

BackgroundFew studies have explored the potential for family dynamics to hinder or promote help-seeking and disclosure behaviours among adolescents who self-harm or experience suicidality. We sought to examine whether family dynamics may influence self-harm-related disclosure to parents or other family members and online help-seeking.MethodsWe identified youths, 14-17 years, in the 2014 Ontario Child Health Study (OCHS) who self-reported past-year suicidal ideation (with or without a suicide plan or past suicide attempt[s]) and/or non-suicidal self-harm. The OCHS is a provincially representati

Bereaved parents' perspectives of factors influencing decision-making about place of end-of-life care for children with life-limiting, life-threatening conditions: an all-Ireland qualitative study.

BACKGROUND: The need for children's palliative care and end-of-life services is increasing. However, there is limited evidence to inform health and social care professionals about parental preferences for place of end-of-life care for their child, or on factors influencing families in deciding on their preferred place of death for their child. The aim of this study was to explore factors which influence parental decision-making in relation to place of end-of-life care for children with life-limiting, life-threatening conditions, with respect to experiences of end-of-life care in different sett

Molecular heterogeneity of CD30+ peripheral T-cell lymphoma with prognostic significance and therapeutic implications: a retrospective multi-centre study.

BACKGROUND: Peripheral T-cell lymphoma (PTCL) represents a highly heterogeneous group of non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, often with aggressive biological behaviour. CD30 serves as a pivotal surface antigen in PTCL, however, its biological functions and therapeutic potential warrant further investigation. METHODS: We analysed 415 de novo patients with PTCL including 314 in the training cohort and 101 in the validation cohort across 11 medical centres in China. Genomic and transcriptomic profiles were examined by DNA- and RNA-sequencing in 355 and 169 patients, respectively. FINDINGS: In both cohorts

Prognostic implications of heart failure stages among Chinese community populations: insight from a nationwide population-based study.

BACKGROUND: In light of high burden of heart failure (HF) in China, studies of prognostic implication of HF stages are important. We aimed to evaluate the relationship between HF stages and mortality risk in Chinese community populations. METHODS: Nationwide representative populations aged ≥35 years (n = 23,284, mean age 56.9 years, women 53.2%) were enrolled from 2012 to 2016. According to the international HF guidelines, participants were divided into stage A, B and C, and those who did not qualify these stages were categorized as apparently-healthy group. Association between HF stages and

The Legal Void Outside Brain Death in India: The Legislative Need of 'DNR' in Brain Death.

OBJECTIVE: The legal definitions of brain death are tantamount for legal dogmas and sometimes criminal intimidation of the treating doctors. The tests for brain death are only applicable to patients planned for organ transplantation. We intend to discuss the necessity of the "Do Not Resuscitate (DNR)" legislature in cases of brain death patients and applicability of tests for brain death irrespective of the intention for organ donation. METHODS: A comprehensive review of the literature was performed till May 31, 2020 from the MEDLINE (1966 to July 2019) and Web of Science (1900 to July 2019).

Adjuvant Lipoic acid Injection in Sepsis treatment in China (ALIS study): protocol for a randomised, single-blind, placebo-controlled trial.

INTRODUCTION: Sepsis is a life-threatening immune disorder resulting from an dysregulated host response to infection. Adjuvant therapy is a valuable complement to sepsis treatment. Lipoic acid has shown potential in attenuating sepsis-induced immune dysfunction and organ injury in vivo and in vitro studies. However, clinical evidence of lipoic acid injection in sepsis treatment is lacking. Hence, we devised a randomised controlled trial to evaluate the efficacy and safety of lipoic acid injection in improving the prognosis of sepsis or septic shock patients. METHODS AND ANALYSIS: A total of 3

The Impact of COVID-19 on Routine Medical Care and Cancer Screening.

BACKGROUND: COVID-19 restrictions and fear dramatically changed the use of medical care. Understanding the magnitude of cancelled and postponed appointments and associated factors can help identify approaches to mitigate unmet need. OBJECTIVE: To determine the proportion of medical visits cancelled or postponed and for whom. We hypothesized that adults with serious medical conditions and those with higher anxiety, depressive symptoms, and avoidance-oriented coping would have more cancellations/postponements. DESIGN: Four nationally representative cross-sectional surveys conducted online in M

Validation of Herek's attitudes toward lesbian women and gay men scale among undergraduates in mainland China.

The lack of a standardized reliable and valid instrument makes it difficult to measure attitudes toward lesbian women and gay men (ATLG) consistently and thus poses a challenge to compare and contrast intervention measures. This study aimed to validate Herek's ATLG scale among undergraduates in mainland China and identify factors associated with negative attitudes toward LG. A total of 6,036 eligible undergraduates conveniently drawn from 30 provinces across mainland China were randomly split in half. Item analysis was first used to select unrelated or redundant items for deletion. Exploratory
