Digital Cognitive Behavioral Treatment of Insomnia in Youth: Protocol for an RCT Examining Feasibility, Acceptability, and Efficacy of LAMBI.

INTRODUCTION: Chronic insomnia is associated with negative effects for children (impaired academic performance, mood and behavioral dysregulation) and their caregivers (poor sleep, stress, fatigue). Chronic insomnia is also common (up to 20% of children, 50-80% in the context of comorbidities), but underdiagnosed/treated in pediatric primary care (<10% treated). Cognitive behavioral treatment for insomnia (CBTi) is the recommended "first-line" treatment for insomnia and systematic reviews and meta-analyses provide evidence of its short-term efficacy and safety in children with chronic insomnia

National Database Study of the effect of mode of transportation on trauma patients injured in snowmobile accidents.

BACKGROUND: Snowmobile accidents occur in areas that may be difficult to reach by ground Emergency Medical Services (GEMS) vehicles. Helicopter EMS (HEMS) can potentially be useful in these situations, but there are few available data assessing HEMS-associated survival improvement in patients injured in snowmobile accidents. This study evaluates the national trauma database (NTDB) to identify snowmobile-related injury cases to determine if HEMS transport was associated with improved outcome, and whether any improvement in outcome is associated with worse functional status as indicated by dispo

SGLT2 inhibitors and secondary polycythemia: a systematic review and meta-analysis of hematologic effects in patients with type 2 diabetes.

BACKGROUND: Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors are widely used in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) due to their survival benefits. However, these agents are associated with increases in hemoglobin (Hgb) and hematocrit (Hct), raising concern for secondary polycythemia or erythrocytosis and potential thrombotic risk. The clinical significance of these hematologic changes remains unclear. METHODS: We conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis in accordance with PRISMA guidelines. PubMed, Scopus, and Embase were searched up to February 2026 for studies evaluat

Differential functional change in olfactory bulb and olfactory eloquent areas in Parkinson's disease.

Olfactory dysfunction, or hyposmia, frequently occurs as a prodromal symptom and ongoing sign of Parkinson's disease. Functional MRI is a powerful tool for studying functional changes in the olfactory brain regions in patients with Parkinson's disease. However, existing studies show inconsistent results and no study has measured olfactory functional MRI abnormalities in the human olfactory bulb directly. This is mainly due to the well-known susceptibility artefacts in conventional functional MRI images that affect several key olfactory-eloquent brain regions, and especially the olfactory bulb.

Treatment effect and safety of seltorexant as monotherapy for patients with major depressive disorder: a randomized, placebo-controlled clinical trial.

The antidepressant efficacy and safety of seltorexant monotherapy in major depressive disorder (MDD) was investigated in a placebo-controlled, placebo lead-in, randomized, double-blind, phase 1b study. Participants were randomized to receive seltorexant (20 mg or 40 mg) or placebo. The treatment effect was assessed by changes in the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression-17 item (HDRS17) from treatment-period baseline to week 5 in lead-in placebo non-responders ("enriched" intent-to-treat analysis set). As a secondary outcome, the effect of seltorexant on HDRS17 was assessed in patients with and

Sustainability of cognitive behavioural interventions for chronic back pain: A long-term follow-up.

BACKGROUND: There is a significant research gap with respect to the long-term sustainability of psychological treatment effects in chronic pain patients. This study aimed to investigate long-term treatment effects of two psychological treatments: cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) as a broad-spectrum approach and exposure as a specific intervention for fear-avoidant pain patients. METHODS: Patients with chronic low back pain were randomized to CBT or exposure in vivo. Long-term follow-up (LTFU) data were available for 64 patients up to 8 years after treatment, with a response rate of 73%. Th

Is grip strength linked to body composition and cardiovascular risk markers in primary schoolchildren? Cross-sectional data from three African countries.

OBJECTIVES: Muscular strength represents a specific component of health-related fitness. Hand grip strength (HGS) is used as an indicator for musculoskeletal fitness in children. HGS can also be used as a marker of cardiometabolic risk, but most available HGS data are derived from Western high-income countries. Therefore, this study examines whether HGS is associated with body composition and markers of cardiovascular risk in children from three sub-Saharan African countries. DESIGN: Cross-sectional study. SETTING: Public primary schools (grade 1-4) in Taabo (Côte d'Ivoire), Gqeberha (South

Does acute soccer heading cause an increase in plasma S100B? A randomized controlled trial.

The purpose of this study was to test the effect of subconcussive head impacts on acute changes in plasma S100B. In this randomized controlled trial, 79 healthy adult soccer players were randomly assigned to either the heading (n = 41) or kicking-control groups (n = 38). The heading group executed 10 headers with soccer balls projected at a speed of 25 mph, whereas the kicking-control group performed 10 kicks. Plasma samples were obtained at pre-, 0h post-, 2h post- and 24h post-intervention and measured for S100B. The primary hypothesis was that there would be a significant group difference (

The Association of the Social Vulnerability Index with Acuity of Presentation to Obstetric Triage.

OBJECTIVE: Adverse social determinants of health are known to be associated with adverse pregnancy outcomes. The objective of this analysis was to assess the association between adverse community-level social determinants of health, measured with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention/Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry Social Vulnerability Index (CDC/ATSDR SVI), and acute presentation to obstetric triage. We hypothesized that adverse community-level social determinants of health would be associated with greater clinical acuity at time of presentation. STUDY DESIGN: This
