The authors present the case of a 65-year-old woman with clinical and radiological evidence of pelvic sepsis and a medical history of endometrial ablation 20 years previously. She underwent laparotomy after failing to settle with a course of intravenous antibiotics and her appendix was found to have perforated into the uterus with abscess formation which had not discharged vaginally presumably due to widespread intrauterine synechia following her endometrial ablation. The management of irreducible rectal prolapse is controversial. Surgeons may attempt conservative management by application of sugar. When surgery becomes inevitable the choice of procedure varies. A 10-year study to evaluate the time trends of ectopic pregnancy showed a gradual but steady rise of incidence from 1/179 to 1/108. Reproductive failure constituted the major bulk but contraceptive failure is gradually increasing. Interestingly failure of emergency contraception has emerged as another risk factor in recent years. A case of uterine torsion in a 37-years-old woman during twin pregnancy is described. Diagnosis was made during caesarean section and the torsion successfully reduced through a standing laparotomy. Detorsion was accomplished by rotating the uterus to the left. A severe post-partum haemorrhage occurred and hysterectomy was required. The patient recovered and was discharged home with her baby. Spontaneous perforation is a very rare complication of pyometra. The clinical findings of perforated pyometra usually mimic perforation of the gastrointestinal tract. In most cases a correct diagnosis can be made only by laparotomy. In our case, the patient's pyometra was sealed and she complained only of mild abdominal pain and showed no signs of peritonitis. Operative treatment of hepatic hydatid cyst is technically demanding procedure. The method of choice is conservative treatment with Albendazolum followed by surgery. We report a 44-year-old female with lymphangiomyomatosis (LAM) of the kidney and retroperitoneum. Abdominal ultrasonography revealed a right kidney tumor, and she was referred to our department.
