In the surgical treatment of spinal degenerative disorders, neural function improves to some extent upon successful neural decompression. However, we have witnessed cases with poor postoperative results. The causes include surgical procedure issues, such as insufficient decompression of neural tissues and overlooking sites to be decompressed, and neurological misdiagnosis of other causative lesions or multiple lesions. This paper describes the regeneration of lesioned sciatic nerve with collagen tubes incorporated with RGD cell-adhesive peptide. The adrenergic and cholinergic innervation of the bladder was studied in streptozotocin-diabetic rats. The aim of the paper was to examine the influence of cobalt compound on rabbit eye tissues. The lesions in the eyeball were evaluated basing on ophthalmological examination and in light and electron microscopes. The studies revealed that cobalt intoxication caused the following damages in the rabbit retina: oedema and atrophy of nerve fibres, lesions of ganglion, amacrine, bipolar, horizontal cells and nucleus of photoreceptors. Malignant otitis externa is an infection of the skin and soft tissue of the ear canal, spreading to the nearby structures. It causes severe otalgia and otorrhea, and can lead to ominous consequences such as cranial nerve damage and meningitis. Traumatic neuromas are tumors resulting from hyperplasia of axons and nerve sheath cells after section or injury to the nervous tissue. We present a case of this tumor, confirmed by anatomopathological examination, in a male patient with history of circumcision. Knowledge of this entity is very important in achieving the differential diagnosis with other lesions that affect the genital area such as condyloma acuminata, bowenoid papulosis, lichen nitidus, sebaceous gland hyperplasia, achrochordon and pearly penile papules.

A patient presenting with local pain and limitation of movement in the temporomandibular region following surgery of the left temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is described. Manual techniques like distraction of the TMJ combined with motor control exercises to restore TMJ function were not sufficient to relieve the patient's symptoms and her orofacial functions. However, during manual assessment and treatment of cranial nervous tissue, in this case the auriculotemporal nerve and its interface, pain was relieved and orofacial functions improved.

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumor (MPNST) is very uncommon tumor of parotid gland and it is an uncommon spindle cell sarcoma accounting for approximately 5% of all soft-tissue sarcoma. There is strong association between MPNSTs and neurofibromatosis (NF-1) and previous irradiation. Structural abnormality of chromosome 17 is associated with NF-1 and so MPNST. We present a case of a 78-year-old male presenting with slowly growing parotid mass who underwent tumor resection.

Acute upper airway obstruction (UAO) is a life threatening complication that is well recognized after carotid endarterectomy, thyroidectomy and pharyngeal area intervention. It is not widely acknowledged that airway obstruction can occur after cervical spinal fusion surgery which was first described in 1955. There are a number of common postoperative problems which may become apparent in the short to medium term. These include: sore throat, dysphagia, hoarseness, dysphonia, recurrent laryngeal nerve palsy and soft tissue swelling.

We present a case of neural fibrolipoma arising from the digital nerve in the index finger of the right hand. A 31-year-old man was referred with a soft tissue mass in the ulnar aspect of the index finger of his right hand, which had gradually enlarged during the past seven years. Histological examination of an excisional biopsy specimen identified a neural fibrolipoma, which is a differential diagnosis of a lipomatous lesion of the digits.
