This study was designed to investigate the effects of vibration on muscle performance and mobility in a healthy, untrained, older population. Forty-three participants (23 men, 20 women, 66-85 y old) performed tests of sit-to-stand (STS), 5- and 10-m fast walk, timed up-and-go test, stair mobility, and strength. The aim of the study was analysis of relationship between proliferation index (PCNA) and protein p53 content in dysplastic laryngeal epithelium and the degree of dysplasia, age of patients and smoking. Using a structured interview and four questionnaires we examined the sexual development and life in the following groups of psychiatric female patients: 51 with schizophrenia, 50 with manic-depressive psychoses, 50 with neuroses, 30 with hysterical psychopathic personality, and 20 with anorexia nervosa. Current status of bancroftian filariasis among two distinct communities of Upper Assam was evaluated. Recent studies seem to demonstrate a higher incidence of mitral valve prolapse in hyperthyroid patients. A complete cardiological check-up including 2D echocardiography was performed in 52 hyperthyroid patients and 52 control subjects.
