Diffuse pulmonary lymphangiomatosis (DPL) is a rare disease characterized by infiltration of the lung, pleura and mediastinum with thin-walled lymphangiomas. DPL can result in mass effect from infiltrative disease, restrictive and obstructive pulmonary physiology, chylous effusions and respiratory failure. The present article discusses clinical, radiographic and pathological features, and treatment options for DPL.

Efficient and rapid adsorption of microperoxidase 11 within a highly porous ITO thin film (200 nm) prepared by glancing angle deposition was achieved. Adsorbed redox molecules were reversibly and rapidly reduced throughout the 3D-conductive matrix in ca. 50 ms, allowing the heterogeneous electron transfer rate to be determined by derivative cyclic voltabsorptometry.

We report the first case of unilateral incus agenesis in the literature. Preoperative diagnosis by virtual endoscopy further enhances the significance of this case. We present thin-section temporal bone computed tomographic images and 3-dimensional reconstructed views which were all correlated with intraoperative findings. The patient was successfully treated with an ossicular prosthesis replacement.

Regional variations in intrapartum myometrial contractility were assessed using ultrasound. In 10 women with normal labours, the myometrial thickness increased in all areas during contractions, whilst in 10 women with slowly progressing labour, the retro-placental myometrium thinned during contractions. Locally acting placental tocolytics may be a cause of dysfunctional labour.

Lesions that cause decreased pulmonary blood flow are those that obstruct the RVOT. In general, the radiographic presentation includes the following: (1) Thin, poorly visualized pulmonary blood vessels with little extension beyond the perihilar region; (2) Dark, hyperlucent lung fields; and (3) Moderate to severe cardiomegaly, depending on the cardiac defect(s) present.

The clinical features of perioral molluscum contagiosum in a patient with the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome are described. Light microscopy and thin section electron microscopy revealed epidermal cells in different stages of degeneration showing two types of cytoplasmic inclusions. The basement membrane exhibited discontinuities and multiple laminations which may be a response to viral-induced cytotoxic effects.

The clinical, light microscopical, and electron microscopical features of a mesectodermal leiomyoma of the ciliary body are presented. This exceptionally rare and apparently benign tumour is considered to be of neural crest origin. In the case described the tumour cells were seen to contain thin filaments with focal densities and conspicuous numbers of mitochondria, and smooth muscle protein was demonstrated by immunohistochemical means.

The authors report a case of infantile sialidosis with hydrops fetalis and heart failure. At birth the baby presented a dysmorphic syndrome with histological anomalies. A storage disease with deficiency of neuraminidase activity, sialidosis type II, was confirmed. Amniocentesis with sialic-acid dosage or thin-layed chromatography seems necessary in hydrops fetalis with heart failure of unknown origin.

A patient with distal arthrogryposis, congenital dislocations of the hips, a prominent forehead, epicanthal folds, thin lips, and a poorly defined philtrum was found to have a deletion of 15q and a duplication of 16q. Her mother, maternal grandmother, and great grandmother had a balanced t(15q-, 16q+). The gene for adenine phosphoribosyl transferase was assignable to the 16q22----16qter area that was duplicated.

Studies with two monoclonal antibodies reactive with galactolipids suggest that there is a marked loss of these compounds in the brains of patients with Pick's disease. Quantitative assays, immunocytochemical studies, and thin-layer chromatography confirm that both galactocerebrosides and sulfatides are selectively lost in this condition. This finding appears to be specific for Pick's disease, distinguishing it from Alzheimer's disease and other dementing disorders.

A 15 month old boy with an interstitial deletion 15q derived from a paternal insertion (5;15)(q31.3;q21.1q22.1) is described and compared with one other reported case. A beak like nose with hypoplastic nasal alae, a thin upper lip, failure to thrive in infancy with later onset of obesity, and severe mental retardation are features common to both.

The appearance of the diaphragma sellae is described in cryomicrotomic sections and on MR in patients with and without intra- and suprasellar masses. On MR, it appears as a thin band of negligible signal that is best shown when adjacent CSF or a mass has greater signal intensity. Its position or absence can be used to differentiate intrasellar masses with suprasellar components from suprasellar masses.

Our experience in reconstruction of extensive defects in the oral mucosa with free jejunal grafts in 15 patients is reported. The jejunum provides a well vascularised mucosal lining, which is resistant to mechanical stress and being a thin flap contours well in the mouth. Methods of avoiding technical failure are described. The technique permits radical resection of oral tumours.

A 7-month-old Lhasa Apso with a history of polydipsia and vomiting was depressed, thin and dehydrated. Serum chemistry assays revealed hyperphosphatemia and azotemia, and urinalysis revealed isosthenuria, suggesting azotemia of renal origin. Antemortem renal biopsy specimens contained several sclerotic glomeruli, a few embryonic renal tubules and interstitial fibrosis, indicating renal dysplasia.

The method of graphic reconstruction using the oblique view technique was applied on the transverse CT scans of the vertebral column. In the scanning procedure the low-dose thin-slice technique was used. The method proved valuable for the construction of three-dimensional models as reliable reproduction of the original. The results are useful for preoperative evaluation of the deformed spine as well as for anatomic research.

This study investigates seaweed powder (SP) from D. antarctica, including cortex (CSP) and medulla (MSP) structures, separated into four size ranges (μm): <75 (SP1) to 425 (SP4), dispersed in a 4.8% solution, and heated to 25-80 °C. We present FrameTwin, a curve-anchored Gaussian alignment framework that uses sparse-view images to close the control loop for adaptive wireframe 3D printing. Visualizing the true cardiac apex using transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) remains challenging. The American Society of Echocardiography guidelines describe the left ventricle as tapering elliptically at the apex, with foreshortening causing a rounded appearance.
