A case of subacute parathion poisoning with an erysipeloid-like eruption of the left index finger is reported. Laboratory investigations showed no growth of pathogenic bacteria and cholinesterase activity in the blood showed a rise 10 days after the poisoning. Further blood investigations 6 weeks later showed subnormal levels of cholinesterase activity indicating chronic parathion poisoning.

A 20-year-old male patient was treated topically with 8-methoxypsoralen and long-wave ultraviolet light (UV-A) for alopecia areata. He developed contact allergy to 8-methoxypsoralen after the sixth treatment (day 17), which was verified by patch testing and histopathology.

In the course of 6 months, 1888 intra-uterine contraceptive devices (IUCD) were inserted in a public clinic for contraception. In 10 of the women the IUCD subsequently had to be removed because of skin complaints. Four of these women as well as 3 out-patients of the Department of Dermatology. Six pediatric cases of erythematous papulovescicular skin eruptions were due to exposure to Euphorbia myrsinites. These rashes may be confused with allergies, infections, or other dermatoses. Symptoms followed two to eight hours after exposure to the irritant sap, they increased in severity for an additional 12 hours, and they resolved within three to four days. No sequelae were noticed. Treatment indicated was pain relief, prevention of infection, and reduction of swelling.

The investigations confirmed the known fact that for skin tests larger amounts of trivalent chromium compounds are necessary than those of potassium dichromate. It was also observed that some patients react to relatively higher Cr VI and lower Cr III concentrations and others vice versa. A patient with perfume dermatitis was patch-tested to 94 constituents of perfume and was found to have positive reactions to 12 components. An approach with regard to reducing the prevalence of perfume dermatitis is suggested.
