OBJECTIVE: To describe the occurrence of pheochromocytoma with third-degree atrioventricular (AV) block in 2 dogs.
CASE SERIES SUMMARY: Two dogs were referred for echocardiograms and further diagnostic and therapeutic treatment for third-degree AV block. Abdominal ultrasound of 1 dog revealed an adrenal mass, while that of the other dog revealed bilateral adrenal masses. OBJECTIVES: Tracheo-innominate artery fistula (TIF) is a rare but life-threatening complication of tracheostomy. There are many reports about TIF but the mechanism of TIF formation remains poorly documented. Our objective is to investigate the TIF pathologically and suggest the possible mechanism of TIF formation.
PATIENT AND METHODS: The patient was an 11-year old boy with a history of severe childhood epilepsy, cerebral palsy, and psychomotor retardation who died from TIF. We investigated the TIF histopathologically through his autopsy and reviewed bibliographical considerations.

Stillbirth and neonatal mortality are significant problems in captive breeding of dolphins, however, the causes of these problems are not fully understood. Here, we report a case of meconium aspiration syndrome (MAS) in a male neonate of bottlenose dolphin (Tursiops truncates) who died immediately after birth. A young female patient presented to our hospital for massive rectorrhagia associated with clinical signs of peritonitis. The provisional diagnosis was of sigmoid volvolus, but laparatomy demonstrated that the problem originated from Pelvic Inflammatory Disease (PID). Despite prompt and uncomplicated surgery the patient did not survive, probably because of septicaemia or pulmonary embolism.

Neuroendocrine tumours of the colon and rectum are infrequent. Clinical manifestations are not different from standard adenocarcinoma. Symptoms are non specific; the most common are abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, weight loss and gastrointestinal blood loss. We report an advanced case of transverse colon neuroendocrine carcinoma with multiple metastasis. When these tumours are diagnosed, they have distance disease related to a poor prognosis for the patient. Surgery is the treatment that can offer a greater chance of survival to these patients.

Mitochondrial DNA depletion syndromes (MDSs) are autosomal recessive diseases characterized by a severe decrease in mitochondrial DNA content leading to dysfunction of the affected organ. Autosomal recessive mutations in MPV17 have been identified in the hepatocerebral form of MDS. We describe the clinical features, biochemical and molecular results of a Saudi infant with a new mutation of MPV17 and compared the features to those of previously reported cases. We stress the importance of such rare cases particularly in countries with high consanguineous marriage rate.

We describe a case of hepatic mucormycosis with abscess, an uncommon presentation of mucormycetes infection. Our patient was initially treated with transcutaneous pigtail catheter placement, liposomal amphotericin B, and micafungin without improvement.
