BACKGROUND: We aimed to determine duration of response in patients with CTCL treated using DD who experienced partial response, complete clinical response, or complete response.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: Data from 3 phase III studies were pooled. Patients received up to 8 courses of 9 or 18 μg/kg intravenous DD daily for 5 days every 21 days, or placebo. Data on DD-treated patients were analyzed by dose and CD25 status. Kaplan-Meier product limit estimates and 95% confidence intervals were calculated for duration of response and time to response.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the relationship between CD(4)(+)CD(25)(+) regulatory T cells (CD(4)(+)CD(25)(+)Tr) and unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA).
METHODS: The expression rate of CD(4)(+)CD(25)(+)Tr in peripheral blood was determined by double-label flow cytometric analysis. The samples were taken from 20 normal non-pregnancy women, 17 URSA women and 20 normal pregnancy women.

The identification of two transcription factors that, when mutated, are responsible for severe autoimmune disease in humans is leading to a better understanding of the fundamental processes involved in T-cell tolerance. Both AIRE and FOXP3, identified initially via their association with genetically manipulated mice, are critically involved in tolerance induction in humans. Although mutations in these genes may cause rare but serious diseases, it is likely that other transcription factors will contribute to the genetic load that predisposes certain individuals to disease.
