Spectrally sharp magnetic excitations above the critical temperature in a frustrated Weyl semimetal.

The rare-earth α-pyrochlore iridates are a prospective class of conducting frustrated magnets where electronic correlations, large spin-orbit coupling, and geometrical frustration interplay, leading to a rich set of magnetic and electronic phases. Despite their intriguing properties, the magnetic order and excitations in this fundamental class of topological quantum materials remain poorly understood due to challenges in growing large single crystals and insufficient microscopic information on their temperature-dependent phases. Here, by combining state-of-the-art thin-film synthesis, resonant

Twist Engineering of Anisotropic Excitonic and Optical Properties of a Two-Dimensional Magnetic Semiconductor.

Two-dimensional (2D) van der Waals (vdW) magnetic semiconductors are a new class of quantum materials for studying the emergent physics of excitons and spins in the 2D limit. Twist engineering provides a powerful tool to manipulate the fundamental properties of 2D vdW materials. Here, we show that twist engineering of the anisotropic ferromagnetic monolayer semiconductor CrSBr leads to bilayer magnetic semiconductors with continuously tunable magnetic moment, dielectric anisotropy, exciton energy, and linear dichroism. We furthermore provide a model for exciton energy in the media with tunable

Highly efficient non-relativistic Edelstein effect in nodal p-wave magnets.

The origin and efficiency of charge-to-spin conversion, known as the Edelstein effect (EE), has been typically linked to spin-orbit coupling mechanisms, which require materials with heavy elements within a non-centrosymmetric environment. Here we demonstrate that the high efficiency of spin-charge conversion can be achieved even without spin-orbit coupling in the recently identified coplanar p-wave magnets. The non-relativistic Edelstein effect (NREE) in these magnets exhibits a distinct phenomenology compared to the relativistic EE, characterized by a strongly anisotropic response and an out-

The Influence of Light Rare-Earth Substitution on Electronic and Magnetic Properties of CoFe2O4 Nanoparticles.

Co0.95R0.05Fe2O4 nanoparticles with R = La, Pr, Nd, Sm, and Eu were synthesized via an environmentally friendly sol-gel method. The prepared samples were studied using X-ray diffraction measurements (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron microscopy (XPS), and magnetic measurements. All compounds were found to be single phases adopting a cubic Fd-3m structure. EDS analysis confirmed the presence of Co, Fe, R, and oxygen in all cases. The XPS measurements reveal that the Co 2p core-level spectra are characteristic for Co3+ ions, as indicated by the 2p3/2 and 2p1/2 bin

Radiofrequency Spintronic Neural Network Enabled by Electrically Modulated Magnetic Tunnel Junctions.

Magnetic tunnel junctions (MTJs) in nanoscale have emerged as promising candidates for energy-efficient neuromorphic computing. As a pioneering demonstration, the radiofrequency (RF) neural network based on the intrinsic RF-to-DC conversion capability of MTJs features multilayer interconnectivity and native processing of RF inputs. However, most existing devices rely on magnetic field lines to modulate their behavior in neural networks, resulting in high energy consumption and increased area overhead. Moreover, the limited tunable bandwidth of the MTJs constrains the number of synapses per lay

Rapid Blood Clot Removal via Remote Delamination and Magnetization of Clot Debris.

Micro/nano-scale robotic devices are emerging as a cutting-edge approach for precision intravascular therapies, offering the potential for highly targeted drug delivery. While employing micro/nanorobotics for stroke treatment is a promising strategy due to its ability to localize therapy and minimize drug dosage, current methods require prolonged treatment durations, increasing the risk of nerve tissue necrosis from extended hypoxia. Here a programmable colloidal microswarm capable of rapidly detaching blood clots from the vessel wall is developed, enabling swift recanalization without the nee

Persistent Magnetism and Tunable Doping of Monolayer Graphene via Europium Density Modulation.

Reaching the van Hove singularity (VHS) in a material enables the emergence of exotic electronic and magnetic phases, such as superconductivity and the quantum anomalous Hall effect. This is demonstrated in cuprates, magic-angle bilayer graphene, and more recently, monolayer graphene interfaced with alkali and rare earth elements. Here, the europium density at the graphene/rhenium interface is modulated to tune the electron doping level in monolayer graphene across the VHS point, forming either a dense or diluted europium phase. The dense phase enables flat bands at the Fermi level, while grap

The role of superlattice phases and interparticle distance in the magnetic behaviour of SPION thin films.

Superparamagnetic iron oxide nanoparticles (SPIONs) with tailored surface modifications were employed to fabricate ordered thin films through a drop-casting technique. By systematically varying the ligand chain length using stearic acid, decanoic acid, and hexanoic acid, we precisely controlled the interparticle distances within the films. Comprehensive investigations utilizing superconducting quantum interference device (SQUID) magnetometry elucidated the films' superparamagnetic behaviour at room temperature, as well as notable exchange interactions at lower temperatures. Notably, these exch

Effect of the counter anion to slow magnetic relaxation of hexacoordinate Co(II) complexes.

Three mononuclear Co(II) complexes have been synthesized and fully characterized using X-ray crystallography and physicochemical methods. They contain trans-{CoIIN2O4} for 1 and 2, but cis-{CoIIN2O4} for 3. Ab initio CASSCF followed by NEVPT2 calculations confirm that 1 has a quasi-degenerate electronic ground term derived from 4E which, after inclusion of spin-orbit coupling, gave the zero-field energy gap δ = 209 cm-1. This obstacle prevents a quantitative interpretation of high-field electron paramagnetic resonance (HFEPR) spectra for 1. In 2 and 3, the ground electronic state is orbitally

Investigating the Metabolic Benefits of Magnetic Mitohormesis in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus.

Background/Objectives: Exercise is a key pillar in the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM), but adherence rates to physical activity are poor. Pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy, termed magnetic mitohormesis (MM), has been shown in preclinical and early human studies to mimic the metabolic benefits of exercise without physical strain. However, its effects on glycemic control remain unknown. We evaluate the metabolic benefits of MM in patients with suboptimally-controlled T2DM. Methods: An exploratory study was conducted in 40 adults with T2DM (glycated hemoglobin, HbA1c 7.0-

Comparison of online adaptation strategies for magnetic resonance guided prostate radiation therapy.

BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: MR-guided adaptive radiation therapy allows for daily plan adaptation to account for anatomical changes. Two common strategies are adapt-to-position (ATP), involving re-optimization based on isocenter shifts, and adapt-to-shape (ATS), involving full recontouring and reoptimization. This study provides a dosimetric comparison of ATP and ATS using accumulated dose. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Dose accumulation was performed for 35 patients with prostate cancer treated on a 1.5 T MR-Linac. All patients received ATS-based treatment with either 30.0 Gy in 5 fractions (30.0/5) or

[Application of magnetic recanalization technology in treatment of complex refractory benign biliary stricture].

Benign biliary strictures are frequently encountered after liver transplantation or as a result of iatrogenic injury, among others. Complex and refractory benign biliary obstructions refer to biliary strictures that persist or treatment fails despite multiple endoscopic therapies. Traditional endoscopic approaches demonstrate suboptimal therapeutic effects in treating such patients, with a high recurrence rate. Moreover, surgical operations are highly invasive, and the outcomes are also unsatisfactory. The magnetic dilation technology establishes an external drainage sinus tract via percutaneo

Unconventional Magnetism, Sliding Ferroelectricity, and Magneto-Optical Kerr Effect in Multiferroic Bilayers.

Antiferromagnetic (AFM) materials provide a platform to couple altermagnetic (AM) spin-splitting with the magneto-optical Kerr effect (MOKE), offering potential for next-generation quantum technologies. In this work, first-principles calculations, symmetry analysis, and k·p modeling are employed to show that interlayer sliding in AFM multiferroic bilayers enables control of electronic, magnetic, and magneto-optical properties. This study reveals an intriguing dimension-driven AM crossover: the 2D paraelectric (PE) bilayer exhibits spin-degenerate bands protected by the [C2∥Mc] spin-space symme

[Research progress on repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for improving depression in Parkinson's disease].

Parkinson's disease is a neurodegenerative disease that mostly occurs in middle-aged and elderly people. It is characterized by progressive loss of dopaminergic neurons in the substantia nigra and aggregation of Lewy bodies, resulting in a series of motor symptoms and non-motor symptoms. Depression is the most important manifestation of non-motor symptoms, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. Clinicians often use antidepressant drugs to improve the depressive symptoms of patients with Parkinson 's disease, but it is still urgent to solve the problems of drug side effects an
