PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the performance of gallium-67 scan (GS) and F-18 fluorodeoxyglucose (FDG) PET scan in lymphoma staging and recurrence detection by comparing the 2 imaging studies in the same patient.

Radiation sialadenitis is an uncommon adverse reaction to radioactive iodide therapy. Sialadenitis due to radiation exposure has a dose-related damage that can follow an acute or chronic inflammatory nature. We present a case of a patient who developed radiation sialadenitis after radioactive iodide therapy for papillary thyroid cancer resulting in severe parotid swelling and swelling, which resulted in an emergency department visit and had complete resolution with conservative management.

OBJECTIVE: Calcium pyrophosphate dihydrate (CPPD) crystals are commonly found in osteoarthritic joints and correlate with a poor prognosis. Intraarticular corticosteroids, such as dexamethasone (Dxm), are commonly used therapies for osteoarthritis with or without CPPD deposition. Dxm has variable effects in mineralization models. Patients treated with radioiodine for thyrotoxicosis and hyperthyroidism are a source of radiation exposure and represent a potential radiation hazard for the people in their environment. Doses to the relatives can be estimated from dose rates of the patient or measured with a proper dosimeter. Sensitive thermoluminescent dosimeters have been used to measure the doses absorbed by the family members of patients treated with iodine-131 ((131)I) for thyrotoxicosis. As a quality control procedure, a post-implant seed migration survey has been accomplished on 340 prostate cancer patients since November 2001.
