INTRODUCTION: The potential prognostic influence of sociomedical risk factors probably on ovarian cancer patient prognosis has yet not been intensively investigated. In a retrospective study of 43 cases of eclampsia managed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital Nnewi over a 5-year period, an incidence of 0.75% out of 5750 labour ward admissions was found. Eclampsia was more prevalent in the primigravidae (65%) and unbooked patients (83.7%) than in the multigravidae (35%) and booked (16.3%) patients. The mean age of the patients was 23.5 years. During 1982-2001 correction of atrioventricular septal defect was performed by the author in 180 patients: 74 (41.1%) patients with partial, 11 (6.1%) with transitional and 95 (52.8%) with complete form. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the clinical and laboratory features of adult sickle cell anaemia patients in Nigeria.
DESIGN: A cross-sectional study.
SETTING: Haematology clinic of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, Nigeria.
SUBJECTS: Sixty nine adult sickle cell anaemia patients randomly sampled.
RESULTS: The mean steady state haematocrit, HbA2 and HbF were 22%, 4.6% and 7% respectively. Twenty five per cent of the patients had never received blood transfusion and a similar proportion recorded an infrequent occurrence of painful crises.

The course of mycosis fungoides (MF) is indolent except when transformation to a large T-cell lymphoma occurs. The diagnosis of transformed MF (T-MF) relies on the presence of more than 25% of large cells on biopsy of an MF lesion. We analyzed 45 patients with T-MF recorded by the French Study Group on Cutaneous Lymphomas to better determine clinicopathological features of MF transformation and to analyze their impact on prognosis.
