OBJECTIVES: The aims of this study were to describe the type, presentation and prognostic factors of feline humeral fractures over a 10-year period and to compare three stabilisation systems for feline humeral diaphyseal fractures.
METHODS: In total, 101 cats with humeral fractures presenting to seven UK referral centres between 2009 and 2020 were reviewed. INTRODUCTION/BACKGROUND: Osteogenesis imperfecta is a hereditary connective tissue disorder, resulting in low bone mass and high bone fragility. Dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) and in adulthood also the trabecular bone score (TBS) are well established to assess bone health and fracture risk. The purpose of this investigation was to assess the usefulness of TBS in respect to different treatment regimes in children with osteogenesis imperfecta. Changes of areal bone mineral density (aBMD) and TBS using DXA scans of children treated with antiresorptive therapies were evaluated.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the short-term effectiveness of minimally invasive percutaneous plate osteosynthesis (MIPPO) in treatment of anterior pelvic ring fractures.

We present a case of a pathologic humerus fracture in a patient with the initial diagnosis of Gaucher's disease, which is the most frequent form of lipidosis transmitted as an autosomal recessive trait. It often results in orthopaedic complications with pain, osteonecrosis, fractures and joint infractions. If there is cause for suspicion, beta-glucocerebrosidase in white blood cells should be measured because of the important consequences for treatment. Therapy with a modified enzyme is effective in managing the disease.

Microfixation techniques were used as an adjunct to the use of miniplates and screws in the acute treatment of fractures involving the orbit in 42 patients over a 2-year period.
