METHODS: This study was a cluster randomized controlled trial with family practice as the unit of randomization, performed within the Dutch national cervical screening program. The present study describes a subclinical necrotizing granulomatous hepatitis in normal broilers routinely slaughtered in a medium-sized (72,000 birds per day) abattoir in the Netherlands. An exploratory investigation was scheduled on line during 20-min periods for 82 flocks (3000 birds examined per period). To determine the roles that the sensory modalities play in user product interactions, one modality was blocked during the execution of eight simple tasks. Participants reported how they experienced the products and how they felt during the experiment. Oesophageal atresia (OA) and tracheo-oesophageal fistula (TOF) are severe congenital anomalies of which the aetiology is largely unknown. Several chromosomal anomalies have been described in patients presenting with these anatomical malformations, but until now none of these has led to the identification of a single aetiological factor. This paper reviews the chromosomal abnormalities reported in cases of OA/TOF and serves as a starting point to identify chromosomal regions harbouring genes involved in the aetiology of OA/TOF.

BACKGROUND: Left-handedness has been reported to be associated with reduced life expectancy, but the evidence is far from conclusive.
METHODS: We studied the association between innate handedness and total mortality, as well as cause-specific mortality, in a cohort of 12,178 middle-aged Dutch women who were followed for almost 13 years. The relation between handedness and mortality was analyzed using Cox regression in a case-cohort approach, in which a random sample of 1500 women was used to represent person-years under observation for the entire cohort.

This cross-sectional study aimed at explaining the nature of needle phobia and its relationship in dental phobic children with evidence on age-related differences. The patient sample included randomly selected patients and an group of referred anxious children. The children were divided into three age groups and arranged into three anxiety groups. Needle phobia was demonstrated to be age-related, but should be considered as a separate phenomenon, being not specific for dental anxiety.

Respiratory symptoms have a high prevalence among preschool children (5-20%). This study evaluated the impact of parent-reported respiratory symptoms on health-related quality of life (HRQOL) using the TNO-AZL Preschool Children Quality of Life (TAPQOL) questionnaire.
