Epidermolysis bullosa (EB) is a rare hereditary skin disease of infancy that can involve the mucous membranes of the oral cavity. Laryngotracheal involvement is rare. Cross-union is a rare complication of fractures of the forearm in children. Of the ten cross-unions reported in this series, four were Type 2 (middle third or non-articular part of the distal third of the radius and ulna) and six were Type 3 (proximal third of the forearm). Cystic fibrosis (CF) was diagnosed in 12 children from a total of 15,314 children admitted to the Paediatric Department at Jordan University Hospital (JUH) over the period 1976-1980. A diagnosis of meconium ileus was made in five children. A long-term review of 131 children fitted with upper limb prostheses at the Ontario Crippled Children's Centre between 1965 and 1975 is reported. There were 116 children with congenital deficiencies and 15 who had had amputations. Follow-up ranged from 7 to 17 years. A total of 42 children had abandoned their prostheses, 37 of whom had congenital deformities and five were amputees. At autopsy, the hips of six infants who died soon after birth and had unilateral congenital hip dysplasia were found to have a cartilaginous ridge in the acetabulum which separated the hip socket into two sections.
