We introduce a novel technique of ventricular septal defect (VSD) closure through right ventricular incision and through the VSD. It should provide extended and better-anchored coverage of the VSD margin and create a completely leak-free "sandwich" double patch by using large interrupted horizontal mattress sutures only, with no incision in the left ventricle wall. The present report demonstrates a complication not previously reported secondary to thyroid surgery as a treatment of hyperthyroidism. This complication of a sinus tract extending 6 cm from the thyroid to the skin appeared to be due to a foreign body reaction to the sutures utilized in the operation. PURPOSE: We use a tailored approach to laparoscopic partial nephrectomy based on tumor depth of penetration and proximity to the renal sinus. We evaluated differences in perioperative outcomes to determine the value of this paradigm.
