HPV prevention awareness, vaccination willingness, and vaccine-related perceptions among middle-school girls in three Arab countries: an exploratory online survey.

BACKGROUND: Cervical cancer is largely preventable through human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination, screening, and timely treatment; however, adolescent HPV literacy remains inconsistent. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates have different publicly documented HPV-vaccination and cervical-screening contexts. This study explored HPV and cervical cancer prevention awareness, selected Health Belief Model-informed beliefs, vaccination willingness, and vaccine-related perceptions among middle-school girls in these countries. METHODS: An exploratory online cross-sectional survey was cond

Exploring the causal involvement of the rIPL and white matter interindividual variability in spatial orienting and consciousness.

BACKGROUND: Spatial attention enables the selection of relevant over irrelevant stimuli through dorsal and ventral fronto-parietal networks. These networks are connected through long white matter tracts, such as the superior longitudinal fasciculus (SLF) and the Inferior Fronto-Occipital fasciculus (IFOF). OBJECTIVE/HYPOTHESIS: The main purpose of this study was to explore, in healthy participants, the causal role of the right Inferior Parietal Lobe (rIPL) in spatial orienting and conscious perception. We also explored how interindividual differences in the microstructural properties of white

AI Awareness and Tobacco Policy Messaging Among US Adults: Electronic Experimental Study.

BACKGROUND: Despite public health efforts, tobacco use remains the leading cause of preventable death in the United States and continues to disproportionately affect underrepresented populations. Public policies are needed to improve health equity in tobacco-related health outcomes. One strategy for promoting public support for these policies is through health messaging. Improvements in artificial intelligence (AI) technology offer new opportunities to create tailored policy messages quickly; however, there is limited research on how the public might perceive the use of AI for public health me

Mind the G(ap): bridging prevention needs and approaches for GHB/GBL users and their social environment.

BACKGROUND: Gamma-hydroxybutyrate (GHB) and its precursors gamma-butyrolactone (GBL) and 1,4-butanediol (BD) have become a significant concern due to the increase in their recreational use and the high risks associated with it (e.g., overdose, addiction, life-threatening withdrawal syndromes). However, targeted prevention and treatment strategies are lacking, and little is known about the specific needs of users regarding supportive approaches. METHODS: To address this gap, a mixed-methods longitudinal study was conducted with two waves of online data collection (11/2022-01/2023; 11/2023-01/2

Playful consumption, serious concerns: navigating risks and normalization in Chile's e-cigarette unregulated market.

BACKGROUND: Despite legal restrictions, e-cigarette use is rapidly expanding in Chile, driven by informal sales and weak enforcement. Classified as pharmaceutical products, e-cigarettes are technically prohibited for commercial sale without health authority approval. However, widespread access and appealing product features have contributed to their social normalization (e.g., perceived as a common or an acceptable practice). This study aims to explore e-cigarette related behaviors and perceptions in the absence of clear institutional guidelines and oversight. METHODS: This qualitative study d

Sharing roads with automated vehicles: A questionnaire investigation from drivers', cyclists' and pedestrians' perspectives.

Despite the promised benefits, the introduction of Automated Vehicles (AVs) on roads will be confronted by many challenges, including public readiness to use those vehicles and share the roads with them. The risk profile of road users is a key determinant of their safety on roads. However, the relation of such risk profiles to road users' perception of AVs is less known. This study aims to address the above research gap by conducting a cross-sectional survey to investigate the acceptance of Fully Automated Vehicles (FAVs) among different non-AV-user groups (i.e., pedestrians, cyclists, and con

Specific phobias are a common anxiety disorder that deteriorates the lives of people who suffer from them. To reduce the symptoms produced by this mental disorder exposure therapies have been used. However, low- and middle-income countries, including Mexico, have the lowest rate of treatment due to multiple barriers that prevent addressing mental health problems. Self-applied treatments have been explored in previous studies, nevertheless, high dropout rates are a common problem in this kind of treatment. An alternative is using immersive self-applied treatments that could help increase adhere
